A cloth seal, folded in the centre so the wider terminals are pressed together with the designs facing out. One face has a crowned thistle with a J to its left and an indistinct design to its right; the J is used instead of a 1. The other face has a profile of a Queen Anne, facing left towards the crowned thistle. There is an inscription surrounding this bust, although the section behind the bust has been damaged. The visible inscription reads MAG.AR...

A complete and damaged Modern two-part lead cloth seal of the War Department relating to the Army Clothing Factory at Pimlico, London (c. 1857-c. 1932). This cloth seal has two discs connected by a joining strip at the edge (now broken) and held together by a rivet at the centre. A complete cast lead cloth seal of Modern date (c. 1800-c. 1900). A two disc seal with a rectangular connecting strip. Disc 1: Scratch marks including Roman numeral VI. Disc 2: Broad arrow (on rivet), W ?D below. The object has an even buff patina. 40.7 x 31.7 x 4.9mm. Weight: 20.61g. The broad arrow signifies that the cloth seal was probably used on cloth belonging to the War Department. A similar cloth seal has been recorded from West Clandon Parish, Surrey.
