A lead four-disc cloth seal of post-Medieval date.
The seal comprises two pairs of circular discs joined by a folded connecting strip. The larger two discs each bear a stamped design. One on side this consists of the legend 'CAR/SAY/.84.' within a beaded border. The opposite disc has a stamped Royal shield (of England, Scotland, Ireland and France). One of the smaller discs (on the same side as the 'CARSAY' legend) bears an incised 'IX' or 'XI'. The other small disc is bent and no surface details are visible. The object consists of two sub-circular discs joined by a folded connecting strip. On the one intact disc is a large relief-moulded letter 'S' within a beaded circular border. The other disc is largely missing. The seal measures 27.9mm long, 17.8mm wide and 9.8mm thick. The weight is 9.35g.

A lead disc from a post-Medieval cloth seal.
The disc is circular in plan and has an attached portion of the connecting strip. The upper surface bears a relief-stamped mark comprising two letter 'C's, arranged back-to-back. Above the letters is a crown, while below the letters is a probable number '3', which may originally have formed part of the date [16]3[4]. The bent and corroded artefact measures 17.2mm in diameter, 1mm thick and weighs 1.63g.
Although there is no known parallel for this piece, it would appear to be an alnage seal, probably dating from the reign of Charles I…

A fragment of a lead cloth seal of post-Medieval date.
The piece represents approximately two thirds of a circular disc. The upper surface bears a relief-moulded central design showing a male standing left. On his lower body he wears hose, netherhose (probably) and boots. On his upper body he wears a tight jerkin with elbow-length sleeves. The male has shoulder-length wavy hair, and the facial features, although heavily corroded, are visible. A post-Medieval lead-alloy two-disc cloth seal.
The upper surface of one of the sub-circular discs bears the relief-stamped image of a tree, with the trunk dividing the letters 'T M'. This design is contained within a circular border of pellets, with a plain inner band. The other disc is badly damaged but appears to be plain. A folded connecting strip joins the two discs. The object measures 28.9mm long, 20.6mm wide and 6.5mm thick. It weighs 10.41g.

The seal comprises two sub-oval discs joined by a folded connecting strip. One disc bears a relief-stamped privy mark with the letters ‘B (above) I*E’. Below is a cross within a circle. Surrounding this design is a plain ridge with a concentric outer groove. The other disc is blank.

A damaged lead two-disc cloth seal of of 17th or 18th century date.
The surface of one of the discs bears a monogram in stamped relief, possibly containing the letters 'T/J AR'. At the base of the letters is a line of foliate ornamentation. At the centre of the other disc is the incised number '24', possibly followed by '2' or '7'. Above this, and executed at 180 degrees, is '72.11(or 'H') 0'. Several lines have been scratched over this latter inscription in an attempt to remove it.
The damaged discs measure 21.4mm in diameter, 2.8mm thick and weighs 4.86g.

The seal comprises two sub-circular discs joined by a folded conencting strip. One of the discs bears a central monogram containing the letters (in relief) 'N O W' in an inverted triangular formation. Above these letters is a horizontal border of small crosses. The other disc is also stamped but the nature of the lettering/design is unclear.
The object measures 21.2mm long, 17.8mm wide and 2.9mm thick. The weight is 6.12g.

One of the sub-circular discs bears a relief-stamped privy mark comprising an elaborate cross with looped terminals and a letter (possibly 'P') to the right. This design is surrounded by a beaded or ropework border. The other disc has not been stamped but there are some indecipherable scratch marks. The connecting strip is missing.
The artefact is heavily corroded. It measures 23.1mm in diameter, 7.6mm thick and weighs 9.23g.

Two of four original discs from an 18th century alnage cloth seal.
The seal comprises two sub-circular discs joined by a folded connecting strip. Both discs bear stamped designs. One disc has a bust of the king facing right, surrounded by the legend ‘OF ENG=LAND’. This design is surrounded by a circular pellet border and an outer, inverted triangle border. The other disc has a crowned fleur-de-lys, with the number ‘4’ (the duty in pence) in the left field. A lead two-disc cloth seal of post-medieval date. This is an example of the ‘Worsted reformed' series of seals, issued in Norfolk in the late 17th century, for attachment to worsted cloth.
The seal comprises two sub-circular seals joined by a folded connecting strip. One surface bears the lettering ‘WOR/TED/(R)EFOR/MED (sic.). This lettering sits within a circular ropework border. The design on the other disc has a segmented border but the nature of the central design is uncertain due to damage.
The seal measures 25mm long, 21.3mm wide and 5.2mm thick. The weight is 8.6g.

A damaged lead two-disc cloth seal of post-medieval date. This is a customs seal, issued at Lyon for the exportation of silk. Similar seals have been found in London (see Egan, 1995, p. 102, nos. 299 and 300). The two examples illustrated date from the late 16th and 18th centuries respectively.
