A post medieval two disc lead alloy cloth seal of Taunton in Somerset. The obverse has a letter ‘T’ with a barrel (or ‘tun’) placed across the centre. This is a punning device/rebus which makes a visual reference to the name of the town (‘T-tun’ for Taunton). The inscription reading from 7 o’clock is TA[NTON . SA]RGES giving the name of the town and the type of cloth. The reverse appears to have a castle, church or town gate with legend [...]IO[...] around; this likely the name of the serge-maker (possibly IO[HN...]).

An incomplete post medieval lead alloy cloth seal from the German city of Augsburg for linen and cotton fabric known as "Ousbrow or Augusta fustians" (Elton (2017) p296). One disc remains and has an upper case chevron-barred letter A with three small annulets around, all within a beaded border. A stump of the attachment loop is retained on one edge. The rear has the integral rivet, but the second disc has been lost. Circa later 16th to early 17th century.

One side features a left-facing bust of Queen Anne with illegible legend; the other depicts a horse or unicorn rampant on a globe with a 1/2 to the left indicating the alnage subsidy of one halfpenny for the cloth.

There are three distinct stamped designs: An Irish harp, crowned, flanked by a pair of five-petaled flowers all set within in a diamond or lozenge comprising a plain line and outer cabled border. A monogram of TG flanked by a pair of quatrefoils within a circular cabled border surrounded by an indecipherable legend with a number of five petalled flowers as initial marks, possibly ***[...]P.P.Y. A circle containing the letters which may be S L(or E) A / P O H / ED.
