A complete post-Medieval two-part cast lead cloth seal. The two discs are joined together by a rectangular joining strip (5.0 x 4.6mm). Both discs have a raised design. Disc 1: Mostly illegible, part of the design survives. Disc 2: Within a circular beaded border, a tower of two storeys. The lower storey has an arched doorway and the upper storey has an arched window. The tower is flanked on either side by an open crown. One face has a crowned royal arms and the other face has a triple stranded cross with a mullet and 'annulet' in one quadrant. Length: 18.50mm; width: 12.64mm; thickness: 3.44g. Weight: 3.94g. The seal has a buff patina overall. No analogy found. However, compare with Egan 1994: 56, ref: 110. An incomplete post-Medieval four part Charles II or James II alnage cloth seal (c. 1662-c. 1700). This single disc is moulded at the front, flat and plain at the rear. The front depicts a bare-headed bust right, possibly of Charles II with the inscription: MAG BRI REX It is slightly damaged and has a buff patina. Diameter: 14.1mm; thickness: 0.8mm. Weight: 1.17g. An incomplete post-Medieval Augsburg cast lead cloth seal (1500-1650). This two-part seal is of the type used on bales of fustian originating from the Bavarian city of Augsburg. Disc 1. Capital A with a chevron bar and an annulet at each side and one below, all within a circle. Disc 2 (incomplete) bears unclear traces of a pinecone design. The seal has a buff patina overall. A complete post-Medieval two disc lead-alloy cloth seal (c. 1550-c. 1700). The seal is formed of two discs linked by a rectangular tab. One disc had an integral projecting rivet on the inner side, the other a hole through the centre. (The rivet went through the cloth, through the other seal and was stamped flat to hold the seal to the cloth.) The back disc (with rivet) is plain. The projecting end of the rivet has raised a merchant's/privy mark.
