A complete but damaged cast lead cloth seal of Post-Medieval date (c. AD 1500 – c. AD 1650). Diameter: 21.7mm; thickness: 3.7mm; weight: 6.72g. A two-disc seal with a connecting strip. This cloth seal is corroded and worn. Consequently, it is difficult to determine the design on each face. The pine-cone is the heraldic badge of the city of Augsburg. Examples are illustrated in Egan 1995.

An incomplete cast lead cloth seal, probably issued during the reign of Queen Anne. This disc was probably part of a four-disc seal from the series featuring a monarch's head. As Egan (1994, 60) states, the relief designs on these alnage seals are characterised by fine detail resulting from well-engraved dies. The disc bears a female bust facing left, that of Queen Anne surrounded by the inscription: FIDEI DEFEN (Defender of the Faith). The side with bust has a shiny buff patina and the rear side is plain and has a rough surface with a buff patina. Contemporary cloth sea…
