An incomplete post-medieval lead alloy two-disc cloth seal issued at Haarlem in the Netherlands (c. 1600-c. 1700). An incomplete disc and the central rivet integral to that disc survive. The edges of the disc are worn and the connecting strip is missing. The outer face of the disc is stamped with the arms of Haarlam: an elaborate shield, a vertical sword and four stars arranged two each side of the sword. The legend is illegible. Originally the disc would have been circular and there is a slight indication of a joining tab at the base. Although not complete, the front depicts a cast relief design of a winged female (an angel) with arms extended. One disc had an integral projecting rivet on the inner side, the other a hole through the centre. (The rivet went through the cloth, through the other seal and was stamped flat to hold the seal to the cloth). The front disc has raised capital letters: SS/BAH. The other disc is plain.
