Incomplete lead cloth seal of seventeenth century date. Diameter 37mm and about 1.0mm thick. Weight 10.39g. Disc 2 of a 4 disc seal. The edge has old breaks and the broken parts are missing. The front face bears the arms of the City of London: the cross of St George is ridged and obliquely counter-charged. The first quarter, the dexter chief, is charged with a sword erect. The sword has a cross-guard and the blade is straight and pointed. A border defined by a plain inner circle and a beaded outer circle contains the inscription in the upper part: DE LONDI NO Ros…
