A post-medieval (1500-1700) lead alloy two-disc cloth seal, apparently with the connecting strip missing. Disc one is apparently without decoration or legend. Disc two has the remains of possibly the raised letter V or A at the centre of the squashed rivet. The cloth seal measures 22.6x21.8mm, is 3.8mm thick and weighs 7.40g. Cloth seals were used to authenticate textiles in the medieval and post-medieval periods throughout Europe (Egan 1992;1).

A lead post medieval cloth seal dating to AD c1500-1700. The seal comprises two parts joined in the centre. The seal is incomplete and is in two parts. The main section comprises a sub-circular front panel with stamped lettering comprising (possibly) of a large T with H and below it, P all entwined together. Beneath are the letters AB. The other side is plain, but with some scratchmarks which might be lettering. The seal is 21.27mm in diameter, 3.13mm thick and weighs 6.5 grams.

An incomplete lead alloy cloth or bale seal of post-medieval date, probably a Russian issue seal. The seal has four letters over two lines: O K / B M. The opposing side is has the faint remains of a design, possibly encorporating a central circle (or two) with a letter T at one point around the outside. The rest is too worn to make out.

A Post Medieval cloth seal of the company of dyers, dating AD1700-1800. The seal is a two disc seal, with the rove disc and connecting strip missing. Part of the stamp is still visible on the rivet stub. The more complete disc depicts a double-headed eagle with an inscription rearding GHE[---]ER[---]ER[---]. On the rivet stub the inscription reads [G]OV // [D]A, indicating the cloth seal was from the company of dyers based in Gouda, Netherlands. An incomplete early 18th century lead 4-part alnage seal of George I (1714-27), consisting of discs two and three and their interconnecting strip only. The edges are damaged (recent) and the beginning of a projection into discs one and four is visible diametrically opposite the surviving connecting strip. the two surviving discas are slightly offset from each other. A probable Post Medieval (16th to 17th century) lead or lead alloy cloth seal; composed now of a single oval discs with a flattened stud on the reverse. The outer face of the disc has a lion passant guardant, but only the lower portion of the lion is visible. The surface of the seal is a shiny light cream colour. It measures 16.37mm long, 10.45mm wide and 3.09mm thick. It weighs 2.7g. Cloth seals were in use between the 14th and 18th centuries (Egan, 1989) as a form of quality control. Disc one has a privy mark, apparently EF to either side of a shaft terminating in an inversed W, with a trefoil in the surrounding field. A fragment of a Post Medieval lead alloy cloth seal with the fragmentary surrounding legend * D [- - -] E T *, and with a ligated PW in the centre. Paul Cannon comments: I think this is a fragment of a 17th century cloth seal. The monogram PW (or WP) is surrounded by * D [- - -] E T *. It seems likely that the county name of 'Dorset' is intended. PW (or WP) are the initials of the alnager. The same monogram is recorded on cloth seals of Exeter (Devon); Somerset and Wiltshire. An incomplete Post-Medieval (1500-1700) two-part lead cloth seal consisting of disc one only and the squashed rivet. A possible letter R is visible within a beaded-line border at the outside edge. Otherwise all details is lost. To the reversea raised line - from the casting - is visible across the centre and underneath the squashed rivet. No other detail survives. The cloth seal has several cracks across the surface but is otherwise in one piece, though in fragile condition. Measures 21.6mm in diameter and 3.2mm in max.thickness. It weighs 3.19g.

An incomplete lead post medieval cloth seal dating to the period c. AD 1500 - 1700. The cloth seal consists of the remains of three circular discs pressed together. One face exhibits a design of an anchor with the initials C S wrapped around the shank of the anchor surrounded by a pellet border. The opposite face is less complete and exhibits the number 15 with no other detail visible. The lead has a thick off-white patina. The cloth seal measures 12.51mm in diameter, is 3.33mm thick and weighs 2.23g.
