A Post Medieval lead cloth seal dating from the 16th century. The seal has a double-headed eagle displayed ensigned by a crown, with legend around the edge. Complete post medieval, 17th century, two part circular, lead cloth seal of the Norwich Weavers guild, dated AD.1657. The obverse of this seal, has the NOR/WIC/H stamped on it while the reverse contains the letters HDR/1657/[B]CSP/KL. The letters before the date on the reverse are the surname initials of the Norwich wardens for the year and those after are the Norfolk, county wardens, these are listed as Jhn Pleasance, Chris Richer, Walter Barkham, Willm Hardingham, Jehosephat Davy, Samuel Rawling and the Norfolk wardens were - Robt Beare, Thos Church, Anth Edwards, John Mercer, John …

Complete post medieval, late 18th-19th century, lead cloth packers seal AD.1750-1900. This is a two part circular seal, the obverse has a central S with [...]PACKER around. Originally the packer's name would have been stamped around the outside of the obverse though the seal is quite worn and it is no longer visible. The reverse of the seal has a scratched design on it in the form of NON or ZOZ depending on how it is read, the last Z is smaller and has a short horizontal line above it. These seals are typically used by the Dutch immigrant clothworkers and this type is similar to ones produced in Norwich. The object has been formed by stamping a tube of lead, thus flattening it, with the the roman numerals LII, for 52. it is suggested that these numbers refer to the length of cloth in yards. Fragment of a post medieval, late 16th-18th century, rectangular, lead cloth searchers seal, AD.1575-1800. This is a rectangular two part seal though half is missing and only part of the obverse remains. The seal is stamped with two sets of roman numerals, XVIII and XVIIII below. There is some space left for the seal of the searcher though hthis is missing. The rivet remains on the reverse of the seal and indicates that the seal has been used. Complete post medieval, 17th century, lead cloth seal, of Norwich Castle, formed of two discs doubled over. Obverse has the letters RW with the date 163[.] above and an escallop below. Reverse is a depiction of a castle. While the initials on seals of this type are normally those of the mayor, there are no mayors listed in the 1630s with the initials RW. The two known mayors with these initials are Sir Robert Wood AD.1578, and Sir Roger Weld AD.1599. This would suggest the initials are not those of a mayor but perhaps another official. Incomplete post medieval lead cloth seal, formed of four discs doubled over with one circular and one lozenge shaped. The circular disc has been stamped on both sides, the obverse has REGIS and a swirl, that could be a 9 with a pellet in the void, beneath it. The reverse is some sort of mythical quadraped beast. The lozenge shaped sections are blank but have been riveted together, the rivet itself is circular with only the rivet hole being lozenge shaped. Length: 25.28mm Width: 12.55mm Weight: 3.25g
