An incomplete Post Medieval lead alloy Colchester Dutch community cloth seal dated AD 1571. The obverse of the seal has the date 1571 with 15 to the left and 71 to the right of an ornate shield with a larger lower crown and an upper right smaller crown. The reverse of the seal has a rivet retaining part of the reverse decorated with a griffen rampant, a sign commonly used by the Dutch weavers. The object has a white/grey patina of lead oxide.
