A incomplete lead cloth seal or other seal dating from the post medieval period, about AD 1500 - 1800. It is a two disc seal with a connecting tab. An integral rivet from the back of one disc passes through a hole in the other and is flattened. The rivet disc is marked with a relief merchant's mark of a W with a vertical line and a numeral 4 at the top. The rove disc has an incuse marking which may represent a G. An incomplete Post Medieval lead alloy Colchester Dutch community cloth seal dated AD 1571. The obverse of the seal has the date 1571 with 15 to the left and 71 to the right of an ornate shield with a larger lower crown and an upper right smaller crown.
