A two part lead cloth seal. The seal comprises two fused discs an a thin strip joining them. One disc is stamped with the Royal shield bearing the arms of England. All that is visible is the lower left quarter bearing three lions and part of the upper left quarter with a fleur de lys. To the left of the shield is a rose. At the rear of this disc is an integral rivet. on the end of which are traces of a letter F. The second disc is undecorated and has a central circular aperture through which the integral rivet passes. The connecting strip between the two discs is present and intact. …

Post medieval lead-alloy cloth seal. Complete two part seal consisting of two discs joined by a connecting strip and also the integral rivet from one disc which has gone through the hole in the centre of the other disc and, unusually, not stamped flat. On the disc with integral rivet is stamped a crowned ornate six or eight sided shield with the royal arms flanked by five petalled 'tudor' roses and surrounded by a line border. Incomplete cast lead cloth seal, possibly a dyer's seal, consisting of two discs of unequal diameter, with one edge of the larger disc partly folded over the front face. There are traces of lettering around the edge of the larger disc and a clear imprint of a textile on the reverse. A fragment of a probable cast lead cloth seal dating to the 17th century. The piece is composed of a sub-circular disc decorated with a pellet circle around a raised inscription reading DORSET(pellet) with a central circle containing an illegible symbol. Originally there would have been a second disc with a perforation but this is now missing therefore the full design is not visible. The reverse of the disc is undecorated and flat. Projecting from the edge of the disc is a strip or tab which would have joined this part to the second, missing disc. There is no decoration on either face of the disc. There are, however, clear impressions of the weave of the fabric to which this was attached.The lack of decoration makes this example difficult to date closely. A lead cloth seal. A two part seal folded in half. The main body of the seal is circular with a smaller, sub-circualr projection at one side.The front hallf is stamped with a crowned fleur de lis flanked by two letter Is. The seal is fixed shut by a split tab passed through a hole in the sub-circular projection, the end being bent back like a paper fastener.
