A Late Medieval to early Post Medieval copper alloy chape from the late 15th or 16th centuries. The chape is cast in one piece. The base of the chape semi-circular in plan with rounded knop protruding form the bottom edge. the front fact of the chape is decorated with incised lines radiating from the top edge. Above this the body id decorated with three further horizontal incised lines. The open top if the chape is curved in shape and has sides which flare to create the opening to allow the dagger to be inserted. A medieval copper alloy rolled sheet metal chape. The chape is cylindrical, and its upper edge is incomplete due to old break. There is a single rivet hole close to the edge at the front, on the opposite side from the seam where the metal overlaps. The chape is plain, and tapers to its foot which is narrow and rectangular, with three parallel transverse incised lines of decoration. It has been bent a little out of shape, and the metal has split, probably due to plough damage.The chape measures 34.84mm in length, 8.75mm in width at the attachment edge and 4.6mm at the foot. It weighs 3.43g.

Medieval copper alloy sword chape, 35mm long, 23mm wide and 5mm thick . The object is in fair condition and weighs 5.98grams. The object is sub rectangular in form with a rounded base terminating in a spherical knop. It has a lipped edge and is decorated with a series of circular holes in its centre. The upper edge is sharply stepped and comes down to meet the central holes.

A complete cast copper alloy dagger chape of medieval date. The chape is formed from a single sub-rectangular sheet of metal which has been folded to make an open ended truncated cone. The metal is very worn making the overlap of the two ends difficult to make out. The closed end of the chape has three lines marking the folds. The attachment end is worn and asymmetrical. Cast copper alloy fitting in the form of a dragon head. The terminal is an elongated rectangular snout ending in circular nostrils, above this is a raised area around the circular eyes and above this semi circular ears. Behind the ears it thins and widens slightly to form the trapezoid neck which ends in a curved, probably broken edge with the remains of circular rivet holes, one to each side. Cast copper alloy lace chape dating to the Medieval period. The object consists of a sheet of copper alloy which has been bent into a tubular shape. The object tapers to the base and has an overlapping seam. Slits have been made at the base of the sheet and they have been folded inwards. The top of the object remains open. The object has a smooth light green patina and is in good condition. Lace chapes can be dated from the 14th to the 15th century.

Medieval damaged and incomplete cast copper alloy chape. Originally the chape would have been formed of a lower section with two sets of parallel arms extending from the upper corners. Only one pair of parallel arms survives, with several damaged and broken projections where the lower plates would have been located. The arms are rectangular with a circular terminal. It is 44.85mm long, 16.84mm wide, 3.90mm thick and weighs 5.04 grams.

A complete cast copper alloy Post Medieval lace chape or aglet. It is cylindrical, and has been flattened at one end. It is made of 2 sheets of copper alloy rolled up, the ends of which do not over lap. there is a small hole at the tope which features on both sides, where the chape would have been sown onto the lace. Cast copper alloy late Medieval- Post Medieval chape, dating from c. 1400- 1600. Only the front (domed) half remains, the flat back having broken away. In plan the chape has a semi-circular lower half with a small extension knop at the base. It is decorated with incised lines, giving a scallop effect which meet at the centre in a semi-circular hollow. Above this are two circular holes, one to the left and one to the right of this hollow. The upper half is narrower, and sub-rectangular, with crenellations at the top edge. Near the top is a heart-shaped hole.

Cast copper alloy scabbard chape length 37mm, width 24mm, thickness 5mm, weight 6.71g. This would have had a separate sheet copper alloy back plate, but this is now missing. The upper half is plain with an openwork cordate shape hole in the centre, the top has an undulating/ crenulated edge. The lower half is scallop shaped with radiating line emanating out from the top centre at which point is an openwork trefoil. There is a small knop at the base. Date late 15th-16th century.
