 A small, conical copper alloy sheet metal dagger scabbard chape of medieval to early post medieval date (c 1300 -1500 AD). The chape has been made of a single piece of metal which has been cut and folded to join at an overlapping seam along the reverse. Some ddecoration exisits at the top opening of the chape consisting of two incised lines running parallel to each other around the circumfurance  of the chape, within which are two small circular motifs.

A fragment of an iron probable late medieval to early post-medieval scabbard chape. Only the lower end of the object survives. This is a cast, hollow flat triangular chape with a jagged break around its upper edge and a flattened globular terminal projecting from its lower end. The surface of the metal is heavily corroded. Scabbard chapes are more commonly made from sheet metal, but cast examples in copper alloy and iron are known. Compare PAS records: PUBLIC-03A532, LON-0444D0 and WMID-C808A3. A late Medieval - early Post Medieval lead alloy (pewter) incomplete object possibly a girdle terminal or a dagger chape dating late 15th - early 16th century, hollow, sub-rectangular cross section and trapezoidal profile, now distorted to one face and slightly damaged lip, a transverse moulded line follows the top of the chape with engraved dashes between the lip and line, slightly irregular perforation to the other face, the narrow end of the chape has a reel shaped terminal. A copper-alloy object, probably a chape, needle holder or decorative ferrule dating from the medieval period (c.AD 1150-1500). Folded and squashed copper-alloy rectangular sheet. The sheet is decorated on both sides with the same design consisting of a central rectangular panel with a double zig-zag or chevron motif, framed by four longitudinal ridges on both sides of the panel.  See for parallel SF-EF3836. Object is an incomplete, copper alloy dagger/knife chape of Medieval or early Post Medieval date, c. AD 1500-1600. The chape is broadly ovate-shaped tapering to a flat ended terminal. The open end has an ornate fluted edge. There is an engraved line towards the fluted edge on one side, and a double engraved line on the other side. The obhect has a dark and green patina. Terminal end - 14.7mm x 7.1mm Open end - 26.1mm x 10.5 mm

Mostly complete copper alloy dagger chape/scabbard of Medieval or early Post Medieval date, c. AD 1300-1600. Broadly ovate-shaped tapering to a ball-shaped knop terminal. The open end has a W-shaped profile, with some slight damage to the edge. In the long parts of the W-shaped end are the remains of iron rivets. The whole artefact has a powdery green patina, pitted surface and one small rectangular hole to the surface. A complete copper alloy dagger scabbard chape of Medieval to mid Post-Medieval date (AD 1300-1700). The object is a flat copper alloy sheet which has been folded into a flattened, conical shape. The edges are joined at the tip and along about 11mm of the seam, but have separated and become bent from that point up to the top open edge.   It measures 45.9 from tip to top edge, 33.9mm across the top open edge and 7.7mm thick towards the tip. A Medieval silver dagger chape, dating circa 1300-1450. The chape is triangular with a rounded end. The chape is undecorated. One small attachment hole survives which is pierced on one side of the upper edge.
