A cast copper alloy sword or dagger chape dating from the Medieval period, (1100-1500). The object is tubular narrowing in width towards the base and is oval in cross-section. The chape consists of a single flattened sheet of copper alloy which has been folded over leaving a join running down the rear of the object. Both the base and the top of the object are open. At the top of the object are two small rivet holes at the front and one at the back, all of which are infilled with soil/corrosive material. Two fragments of an incomplete copper alloy dagger or scabbard chape, medieval in date (AD1300-1500).The chape is sub triangular in plan and sub-oval in section with a hollow interior. It is made from a single piece of sheet metal wrapped around, measuring up to 1.56mm in thickness. The welding seam is clearly visible on the interior and exterior of the object. An incomplete cast copper alloy sword or dagger chape, probably dating from the Medieval period, (1100-1500). The object is sub-triangular in plan, made from a rolled strip of copper alloy pressed together to form a join at the back forming a squashed hollow conical shape. The top and bottom end of the chape have been broken off. There are remnants of silvering to the surface. There is no evidence of other decoration, though wear and corrosion may obscure this. The object has a smooth mid green patina and is in fair condition.

The top of the chape is open. At the top of the object on one face are two small rivet holes for attachment to the leather. The object has a mid-green patina and is in good condition.

Cast copper alloy dagger chape dating to the Medieval period (1100-1500). The object is triangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. The centre of the object has triangular openwork above which is circular openwork. Above this is a small circular rivet hole. The object consists of one piece of metalwork which has been folded over along its length leaving the top and opposite side, which contains the rivet hole, open. The reverse arm of the object has broken away. The object has a dark green patina and a small amount of gilding can be seen on the upper face.

An incomplete rolled copper alloy dagger chape, of Medieval to Post Medieval dating (13th to 18th Centuries AD). It has been constructed from a folded sheet of copper alloy metal. The ends are cut and bent up. It is a mid green colour and in good condition. Length: 29.71mm Width: 11.46mm Weight: 3.8 grams

Cast copper alloy lace chape dating to the Medieval period. The object consists of a sheet of copper alloy which has been bent into a tubular shape. The object tapers to the base and has an overlapping seam. Slits have been made at the base of the sheet and they have been folded inwards. The top of the object remains open. The object has a smooth light green patina and is in good condition. Lace chapes can be dated from the 14th to the 15th century.
