A possible demi culverin iron cannon ball c. 1600-1830. The ball measures 10.66cm (4.2 inches) in diameter and weighs 2154g (8lb 12oz). There is some corrosion on the object. Given its size and weight it is likely to be a demi culverin ball of the seventeenth century, which were usually 9lb with a 4.5 inch calibre. This was the standard size and weight of this type of ball right through to the nineteenth century.
