A fragment of a cast iron cannon ball of probable 17th century date.
approximately one third of the original ball remains, the fracture probably having been caused by a flaw from the casting process. A mould line is evident. The ball has a diameter of 98.29 mm,( circa 3.5 inches), a thickness from the break of 48.16 mm, and weighs 1.115 kg.

A probable cast iron cannon ball from the post-Medieval period, c.1600-c.1800.
The ball is roughly spherical and has a slight projection at one point. The surface is corroded and encrusted which prevents a visual indication of any mould line. It Measures 47.94 mm in diameter, and weighs 358 grams.
