A possible cannon ball made from cast iron. It is spherical and is 40.08mm diameter. It weighs 216g (7 ¾ ozs). The surface of the ball is corroded and flaking. A cannon ball weighing 8ozs was fired from a Robinet cannon, which the recorded example may be. These type of cannons were used in the 17th century (Blackmore 1990 Arms and Armour of the English Civil Wars, Royal Armouries p. 83).

The cannon ball is made from cast iron. It is spherical and is 58mm diameter. It weighs 2lbs 4ozs. The surface of the ball is smooth and brown. There is no corrosion and it appears quite stable. It possibly dates to c. 17th century and was fired from a 'Falcon' cannon.

Post Medieval (late 15th to 17th century) cannon ball: It is a cast iron sphere and is 51.63mm diameter. It weighs 494g (1.09lb). The surface of the ball is corroded and appears to be stable. The cannon ball is probably used in a Falconet cannon based on the weight and diameter of the ball. Post Medieval (late 16th to 17th century) probable cannon ball: a broadly hemispherical corroded cast iron object which is heavily corroded. There are no signs of makers marks or casting seams, but these may be distorted by corrosion. It weighs 233g and measures c.65mm diameter. Although an inexact science, comparisons can be made with historic inventories of cannon shot, their dimensions and weights (see Blackmore 1976).
