Cast copper alloy tombac pimple button probably dating to the 17th century. The object is circular in plan and biconical. The upper surface is decorated with a raised central pimple. The surface of the object has been damaged. The attachment loop has broken away from the lower surface. The outer surface of the object has been silvered or tinned. The object has a mid-grey patina.

A complete Post-Medieval copper alloy button. It is discoidal and flat with a slightly stepped rim on the upper surface. It is decorated with engraved six-petalled flowers with pointed stamens. The shank is missing is integral and pierced with a small circular hole. The button is very similar to no's.120-122 in Read (2005, pp.34-5), which are dated c.17th-18th century. Post Medieval copepr alloy button, 14mm in diameter and 3mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 2.79grams. The object is circular with a slightly domed surface and has a sub-rectangular shaft which includes a circular fixing hole, protruding from its underside. The button is decorated with a series of domed circles arranged in rows, covering its whole surface. This type of button dates to the Tudor period and has many variants. This example matches fig 715, Page 25 in Bailey, G Buttons and fasteners.

Silver-gilt button with elaborate decoration, sub-spherical in shape. The body is made up of interwoven wire/ mesh and there is an integral loop in the centre of the lower half, used to attach to clothing. Lead alloy Post-Medieval button dating from the 17th century. Weighs 20.0g, with a 24.80mm diameter and 6.48mm thickness. Cast, loop not integral. Surface is smooth and in good condition with no visible corrosion, although the back is very rough (as was cast) and shows only the remains of the loop in the form of a small sub-circular post. The edges of the button are also very rough and missing parts of the edge.

A copper-alloy pimple button of 16th to 17th century date. The button has a relatively flat back, convex front with central pimple, and integral loop on the reverse. The button has a diameter of 11.58mm and is 5.37mm thick. The loop is oval in shape, 6.92mm long and 5.18mm wide. The wire of the loop has a diameter of 1.26mm. The button weighs 2.96g. Three copper-alloy tombac buttons of 18th century date. All three buttons are made of an alloy containing high enough levels of zinc to create a silvery appearance. The buttons have flat upper surfaces and are completely undecorated. All of the buttons have a small central convex mount on the reverse where the loop was soldered into place. Lead allloy Button, 17th or early 18th century in date. The button is disk shaped and flat with a rounded integral shank attached at a right-angle to the reverse. The upper face of the button is decorated with an engraved six-petalled flower with pointed stamens within a curvilinear border. The border is comprised of two concentric rings with verticle lines between them forming sub-square cells. While the majority of the button has a dark greenish-brown patina there are also white flecks suggesting that this may be a copper-lead alloy.

A medieval to post-medieval lead-alloy button. The head of the button is of plano-convex form, its upper surface decorated by a number of moulded ridges which radiate outwards from the centre, creating a star pattern. Every other space between the distal ends of the star's arms contains a moulded pellet. A casting flash extends across the flat reverse, a squashed, integrally cast loop projecting from its centre.

An elaborately cast Post Medieval lead alloy circular button circa 17th century. The button has a domed front cast in the form of a sexfoil, overlaid by an eight petalled flower at the centre. The back is flat with an off centre hole remaining where the loop has detached from. The surface appears to have been silvered but is now largely covered with a pale cream lead oxidation.

It is 10.7mm in diameter; 5.7mm tall and weighs 0.86 grams. An identical example is illustrated in Read (2005:73, no.294) from south Somerset which he dates to the 17th to 18th century AD.
