A cast two-piece copper alloy (Tombac) Post Medieval button daing from about AD 1600 - 1700, with the remains of an embedded drawn copper alloy wire loop, which has corroded away leaving two small green dot deposits. The button is discoidal, solid, with a convex front, a flat back, and is undecorated. Dimensions: diameter: 14.67mm, thickness: 4.55mm, weight: 3.50g. A Post Medieval incomplete pewter (tombac) button dating AD 1600 - 1700. The button is plain except for a pimple in the centre of the top. The underside is flat with iron staining and the small remains of an iron loop. The button has a silver coloured patina. The button measures 13.22mm diameter, 5.77mm thick and weighs 3.8grams. The front piece is domed with a protruding pimple at the apex surrounded by two rings of short incised radiating lines. The back piece is slightly convex and has a central integral attachment loop. In the centre of the reverse is the shank, which is cast and would have been drilled. Part of the upper shank including the attachment loop is now missing. The upper surface is decorated with a floral design of a flower with eight petals and a central impressed pellet. It is similar to an example illustrated in Read (2005:32) no. 106. An iron button of the 18th Royal Irish Regiment of Foot made between 1794 and 1812, lightly damaged. This object is a cast concave disc with a hoop on the back face. The obverse face features the regiment's symbol, an Irish harp under a crown, with the regiment's number at the base. This face carries traces of gold gilt. The rear face bears the inscription FIRMIN & WESTALL, who manufactured this button. This company was active from 1794 to 1812, which marks when this button was made. The regiment was kindly identified by the finder.

Copper alloy buttons. Three plain flat discoid button fronts and one hollow-backed front from a button of composite construction; of diameters 29.2mm, 18.9mm, 17.3mm and 16.7mm respectively. A complete cast copper-alloy late Medieval to Post Medieval button dating c. AD 1450-1600. The head of the button is elongated oval in shape with rounded terminals and edges. The surface features moulded foliate decoration consisting of four central pointed petals arranged in a cross surrounded by two branched leaves in each of the resulting quarters. The underside of the head is flat and undecorated. Extending from the centre of the reverse is an integral rectangular-sectioned attachment lug with a rounded terminal and a circular perforation.
