A small Medieval to post Medieval button, of flattened spherical to biconical shape, 10.3mm diameter and 8.7mm height. The alloy has a high tin content and would have appeared silver when new; the button is otherwise undecorated. The reverse has a recess containing the broken stumps of a wire loop shank. Circa late 13th to 16th century.

- incomplete loop, weight 2.00g, diameter 10mm.
- decoration moulded in relief partly obscured by wear, in the centre a small lozenge with a rib descending from each corner and the pellet in the spaces between them, drilled loop, weight 2.46g, length 15mm, diameter 10mm.

A cast copper alloy (tombac) button of Georgian date (c. 1780-1820). The button is flat, discoidal and 23.6mm in diameter. The front has a turned pattern of oblique lines in an annulet at the centre, with an outer border of interlocking feather shapes. The reverse has a loop shank soldered into a central domed boss.

A group of four post medieval (c. 17th century) copper alloy composite buttons, of identical type and found together. Each weighs around 1.6g and has an undecorated convex head around 11mm in diameter with a wire loop shank soldered into the hollow interior. One retains a portion of twisted fabric cord in the loop (see picture).

A copper alloy button with a glass insert, possibly dated to the Post Medieval period 1800-1900.
The object has a cast discoid frame with a central circular glass stone with a curved front. The glass has a opaque ruby red tint. On the reverse is a bent stud (4.2mm in length).
Measurements: diameter 19.2mm, thickness 7mm, thickness with stud 11.5mm, weight 4.4 grams
A similar button is on the PAS database at NLM-E71D7B, which was found in North Lincolnshire.

A complete cast copper-alloy three piece composite, plano-convex button dating to the 19th century. The button is of the 19th Berkshire Volunteer Rifles, which existed in the latter part of the 19th century. The decorated face of the button depicts the number '19' within an eight-pointed star, outside of which is a solid circular border and the legend 'BERKSHIRE VOLUNTEER RIFLES' around.
On the back of the button is a single attachment loop.

A small gold button with a convex facing, 7mm in diameter, which appears to be die-stamped or pressed and has a cable style border around a domed boss decorated scored with a faint hand-incised cross hatching, probably keying to hold (now lost) applied enamel. The reverse is concave and has a round loop shank soldered to it. Circa 18th or 19th century.

An early 19th century gilded copper alloy livery button, 18mm in diameter. The crest depicted comprises a basket with flames coming out on top of a pole with a ladder angled up to it, described in heraldic terms as a beacon, fired. The reverse has a flattened loop shank and there is no visible maker's mark.
