Silver gilt pilgrim badge. A circular plate bearing the framed image of the Virgin and Child, the Virgin crowned and with sceptre and the Child haloed, viewed against a cross-hatched ground within a cabled inner border, a gutter, and an outer frame which is externally lined. A probably integrally cast D-section bar passes behind the image and across its flat plain back and is broken at the site of a sharp curve. Gilded overall, chipped. The finder kindly offers the suggestion that the object was a pendant, but the image is designed to be viewed when the bar is horizontal. This feature …

Lead alloy possible badge. Large cast discoid plate with two holes pierced from its display side close together and towards its edge. The form and cross decoration could point to an early medieval brooch of Weetch type 4, but there is no trace of pin gear and a s…

Copper alloy badge. Cast discoid lapel badge – actually of cross pattee form with recesses between the ends of each pair of adjacent arms and a semi-sircular recess in each angle, and with a crescentic lug for attachment in a buttonhole brazed to the back. The legend: ONE HEART ONE WAY around a W G monogram identifies this as a badge worn by a member of the Wesley Guild, an organisation dedicated to the recruitment and retention of young people to that Nonconformist Christian faith. The legend appears in pale green letters as does the monogram, against white labels and a dark blu…

The centre of the badge is engraved with a crowned 'I' between two Tudor roses on a hatched background. The reverse of the badge is soldered with a strip of metal which has been broken off at the point where it doubles back forming a looped pin.
