An incomplete stone axehead of Neolithic date, c. 3500 - 2100 BC. Only the cutting edge of the axehead survives and is D-shaped in plan and ovate in section. The remaining surfaces are smooth and the break is worn and smooth. The rounded cutting edge is fractured with worn breaks. The axe fragment is 53.9mm long, 60mm wide, 18.3mm thick and weighs 81.8g. The surfaces are rough and covered in a thick creamy-white/brown cortex with chips to the cutting edge displaying the dark green/grey interior. A complete lead-alloy axe of probable medieval date, c.AD 1200 - 1500. The head of the axe is sub-trapezoidal, flaring slightly to the cutting edge, and flattened due to damage at the butt end. An integral circular sectioned shaft projects from the head tapering from a wide butt end to a rounded point atop the axe head. The metal has a light brown/white patina and is worn. The edges are worn and broken though the remaining original surfaces are smooth. A complete quartzite axehead of late Neolithic date 3500-2100 BC. The axehead is triangular in plan and ovate in section. The dorsal surface is invasively flaked across the entire surface, with negative scars indicating knapping blows from right to left hand sides. An almost complete very fine and well finished axe of Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. The object has an rounded oval section, which has been ground at one end to form a chamfered blade end. The blade has broken in places, as a result of shallow chips. It is important to notice the polishing striations which have been left behind on the surface of the axe. On the rounded surfaces the striations are longitudinal, where as the striations on the blade section are more irregular and curved. A heavily corroded and fragmentary artefact which could be a small copper-alloy flat axehead in an early Bronze Age style. The axe is possibly a chisel axe used for fine carpentry work, but is could also be votive. The axe remains at a constant width towards the blade edge, the other end appears to have broken off but the breaks are very worn. The edges of the blade are straight.
