A complete silver finger ring (posy) of post-medieval date (c.1500-1650).
Description: The ring is broadly D-shaped in cross section, the external surface decorated in relief. This design consists of a repeating pattern of lozenges, the side corners of which extend into lines. The lozenges have annulets in their centres and pellets in the fields above and below the extending lines. The lines terminate at vertical lines with semi-circle centres. The fields created by these horizontal lines have semicircles extending from the upper and lower edges, creating a 'puzzle-piece' shape. …

A complete gold Post Medieval posie/posey finger ring with inscription dating c 1680-1780.
The ring has a D shaped cross section with champfered edges. The external surface is plain and the internal surface has an engraved inscription in lower case with serifs reading: 'Vnited hearts death only parts'. Gold posy ring, shallow 'D' sectioned band 2.5 - 3mm wide with a groove running around each edge. I LOVE TO FYNDE in raised but worn letters on outside, starting and finishing with a cross. Pellet between the 'I' and 'LOVE', a quatrefoil with central dot between 'LOVE' and 'TO' and again between 'TO' and 'FYNDE'. Traces of black enamel around letters. Internal inscription started with a six pointed star A CONSTANT MINDE with tiny 'x' between each word and finished with a tiny 'x'. Some of the letters are filled or partially filled with black enamel.

A complete Post-Medieval gold inscribed 'posy' finger ring probably dating to the 18th Century.
The plain hoop is bent and twisted and and the band has a plano-convex cross-section. It is plain and undecorated on the external surface. The inside surface is flat with an engraved inscription reading 'A token of my love', in lower case lettering with serifs but with a capital A. The left hand upright of the A is double barred.
Measurements: length: 23.24mm; width of band: 3.44mm; thickness of band: 0.91mm and weight: 2.39g.

A complete cast gold inscribed 'posy' (or ‘posie’)-type finger-ring of post-medieval date (c.1712).
Description: The hoop is circular in plan and D-shaped in cross-section. The exterior surface of the band is undecorated. The inscription, which runs around the internal circumference, is in lower case italic and reads 'A true friends gift’. The inscription is acompanied by the maker's mark 'TM' underneath a crown. The ring is in the original form but the band shows some nicks.

A narrow gold finger ring with a D-shape cross-section hoop. The flat inside is engraved with the inscription reading “NOT+VALVE+BUT+VERTVE+”. The outside of the ring is undecorated.
Although this inscription is not recorded on the PAS database, the similarities in the lettering and can be drawn on many other posy rings are recorded that have a similar letting style.

Two other posy rings bearing the same inscription have been recorded on the PAS database at HAMP-CD6223 (2020 T970) and DEV-DAA1B6 (2011 T670).

A complete copper alloy-gilt posy finger ring probably of Post Medieval date (c. AD 1600-1800). It is a single, simple band, now slightly buckled, without any decoration on the outer face of the band, except for a small transverse rib which may simply be the result of the joining of the metal to create the ring. This butt joint can clearly be seen in the inside of the hoop. The hoop is plano-convex in section with the remains of an inscription on the inside which is now illegible. A complete gold posy/posey/posie ring with a plano convex sectioned hoop, 2.4mm wide and 0.7mm thick and of 15.6mm internal diameter. The outside curved edge is undecorated, the flat inside is engraved "Thy vertue is thy honnor". There is a worn mark of a single lowercase closed loop letter g in a rectangular or scutiform escutcheon (second image). The style of the lettering is generally consistent with rings from the 17th and 18th century.

A complete and well preserved post-medieval gold 'posy' ring, dating to the period c.AD 1705-1800 The finger ring has a D-shaped band that is plain externally. Inside the band is an inscription in an italic script reading ‘Noe chaing till death’ with no evidence of a makers mark.
The finger ring is made of gold which retains its polish although the outside surface has frequent shallow scratches.
The finger ring has a maximum external diameter of 22.6mm, an internal diameter of 19mm, is 4.1mm wide and weighs 6.52 grams.

Gold finger ring with a D-shape cross-section hoop. The flat inside is engraved with the inscription ‘constancie is a noble vertue’ with the makers mare R at the end. The outside of the hoop is highly decorated with four evenly space panels that contain a raised lozenge in the centre whose side extend to form elongated arms with bifocaled oval terminals that have recessed centres the contain green enamel. At the end of the arms and separating each panel from it neighbour is a domed, multifaceted feature that resembles a rose.
