A gold disc, probably part of a late Post Medieval or Modern collar stud or similar dress fitting, dating from AD 1850 - 2000. It is a shallowly domed disc with no decoration. The reverse is concave and is partially covered with a black coating, perhaps an adhesive as there is no other evidence of attachment. There is a flange round the edge which is flatter and uncoated. The disc would probably have been attached to a central shaft terminating in a smaller domed disc which would have sat against the neck after being threaded though a collar.  Measurements are; diameter 10.8mm, th…

Incomplete late Victorian copper alloy dress lifter. Dress lifters were used to prevent long dresses from trailing in the mud by hoisting the skirt up. A chain attachment to the item would allow the wearer to lift her skirts up and down without having to bend. This example is in the form of a horseshoe with a screw-thread clamp and is possibly an example of Fyfe's ABC Patent 1876 Horse Shoe Skirt Lifter. Dated c.1870-1900.
