This is a puzzling piece which has some similarity with 16th century dress fittings, but does not correspond precisely with examples so far recorded in that it is very thin and lightweight. It has a heart‑shaped stamp on the back which may possibly be a maker's mark, but is not one that we have been able to identify. It also has some affinity with traditional ornaments from Continental Europe.

Description: Incomplete post medieval silver dress fastener. Less than half remains. It consists of an oval or circular openwork plate, with a complete trapezoidal loop projecting and flaring away from the plate. Less than a quarter of the way around the edge of the plate from the loop is a projecting rounded pierced lug or circular sewing loop, suggesting that the trapezoidal loop is a catchpiece or eye rather than an attachment loop. Description: Small eye-piece from a post-medieval gilded silver dress fastener, of composite construction. The plate is an equilateral triangle, decorated with a raised border around a raised circle within which there is a quatrefoil of plain wire rings around a central pellet. The spandrels between the circle and triangle are filled with similar plain wire rings. Substantial remains of gilding remain on the front. Silver gilt post-medieval clothes fastener (eye clasp). The item is circular and partially damaged. There are two integral attachment loops and there would have been a third, though this is now missing. The larger of the two loops may have acted as the eyelet portion of the fastener, rather than as an attachment loop per se. The circular face of the clasp features raised moulded relief in the form of a human face. The reverse is flat and undecorated and bears a maker's mark, part of which is lost. Post Medieval dress hook, c.1550-1670, Read Class A Type 10, cast copper alloy, Oval plate with three integrally cast loops, the eye by which the hook was attached to its counterpart is missing. The face of the hook bears an oval panel of foliate decoration, now obscured by corrosion. Around this is a band of small ovals. Length 34.4mm, Width 21.7mm, Thickness 2.2mm, Mass 6.17g.

Description: Incomplete post medieval silver dress fastener of Read’s (2008) Class B, Type 2. It consists of a plate with a twisted-wire filigree border running around the edge; the plate is circular, but with a curved cut-out forming part of the eye, making the plate almost crescentic.​​ Within the border are are three plain wire filigree trefoils alternating with two irregularly shaped loops of wire with bulbous, rounded ends.
