A complete gilt cast silver dress fastener (eye) of post-medieval date (c.1550-1600). Description: The body of the piece is sub-triangular with one sewing loop each side towards the bottom. A larger loop is formed at the top, in the centre, emerging from an integrally cast horizontal bar that extends further than the width of the body. This loop is where the hook would have been inserted, thus forming the eye part of the hook and eye clasp. A silver dress-fastener of the hook and eye clasp type. This item represents the hook element. The body of the item is a circular back plate. On the font filigree wire is applied around eh border and within this are four rectangular shapes applied with wire which divides the circle into quarters. Silver-gilt hook section of a blunt-hooked dress clasp; Read's (2008, 159-60) Class B, Type 2. The dress clasp has a circular plate which is convex in profile. The front is decorated in filigree with a ring of seven annulets surrounding a central annulet with a large pellet in the centre. There are six smaller pellets around the outer edge of the plate with the indication that a seventh pellet has been lost. All of the decoration is set within a peripheral filigree border. A Post Medieval silver-gilt dress hook with trefoil-shaped back plate with cusped edge. The back-plate supports three hemispherical bosses, each with applied filigree ornament in the form of three circlets with granulated knops. A complete Post Medieval copper alloy fastener or toggle. The base is the shape of an elongated and slightly pointed oval and sub-oval in section. The base is connected to the stem, which is now bent but would have been straight during use, and terminates in a double loop. There are raised collars around the loops on both sides and the mold seam is still visible at the base. There is a dark green patina covering the entire object, and the base and stem show some wear on the surface. An incomplete copper alloy toggle, of Post-Medieval date. The object has an ovoid body with pointed ends. From the long side of the ovoid projects an integral shaft with a flattened double loop terminal. One of the loops is now broken. The object is undecorated; it is covered in a thick dark green patina but file marks are visible on all three parts. The patina has worn off on part of the shaft revealing a brass coloured alloy core. The object measures 25.8mm (length) x 23.0mm (width) x 8.0mm (thickness) and weighs 7.22g.

This item seems to be an incomplete Post Medieval silver dressing fitting, made in one plane. The object is sub-triangular in plan, with three larger holes, which almost look like mount fittings, also aligned in the shape of a triangle, but oriented in the opposite way. Each corner of the initial sub-triangular orientation is comprised of three smaller holes surrounding a small raised pellet. This object is constructed from ?three lengths of copper-alloy of wire shaped and fastened together using a thinner gauge creating a wound wire accessory of a type known to date to the 16th century.
