Silver gilt dress fastener or eyelet. Cast openwork, in the form of a vegetal spray with apical loop and six drilled holes of diameter 2mm. A stamped maker's mark on reverse resembles a narrow (tanner's) hide in an oval field. The display face is partially gilded, with this treatment reserved for highlights of moulded detail, rather than being preserved in hollow contours as might be expected. Post-Medieval, 1700-1800.

A well preserved post medieval cast copper alloy dress fastener. It is the eye catch piece for a corresponding missing hook fastener. The body of the catch piece is in the form of a right hand holding onto the loop which forms the 'eye'. The loop is circular with a circular hole, with four fingers over one side and a thumb wrapping around to the back of the fastener. On the hand's wrist is a ruff. Cast copper alloy early Post Medieval dress hook/fitting, Read class A, Type 2 (p.168-171).
It is sub-oval in plan with a rectangular loop at the top and three attachment knops, one at the bottom, and one on either side. Each of the knops has a circular perforation for attachment. Below the top rectangular loop is a double collar consisting on two horizontal lines.
It has been engraved/punched on the front for decoration, the reverse is plain. The edge of the front has a border of raised dots, in the centre is a floral motif, coming from the top. It is very similar to no. 642 in R…

A cast copper-alloy hooked tag dating to the post-medieval period. The mount has a flat sub-oval body with a small oval knop at the apex. Around the perimeter of the body are four side-loops. The body is decorated with a hollow-dome bearing a human facing-mask and foliage around it. An incomplete blunt-hook extends from the top.

An early post-medieval, cast copper alloy dress fastener, the hook for a hook and eye catch, dating from AD1600-1700. It is sub-oval in plan with a rectangular projection at one end, separated from the remainder of the fastener by a shallow groove: this would have been bent over to form a blunt fastening hook. A copper alloy fastening loop from a clothes fastener, dating from the Post-Medieval period, AD1600-1700. It is formed of wire which has been twisted into three loops, two for sewing the fitting to textiles and a larger loop to take the fastening hook. On one side of the fitting are two small, transverse grooves where a decorative front plate would have been soldered onto the wire; this is now missing. The fastener has a medium-light green patina. It is 23.4mm long, 15mm wide and 2mm thick. It weighs 1.62gm.

A cast, copper alloy catch plate from a hook and eye dress fastener, dating from 1500-1700AD. The body is oval in shape. At one end is a knop which is pierced for attaching to the clothing. There are two further pierced knops for attachment at the opposite end of the body, one on each side. The tractangular catch loop at the other end has broken off and is missing. Cast copper alloy 'male' tag from a pair hooked tags length 41mm, width 24mm, thickness 2mm, weight 4.784.63g. The tag has a sub-oval plate with a large rectangular hook at one end. Immediately behind the hook are two pierced knops (one missing) with a third at the rear for attachment. The centre of the plate is decorated with a foliate design. This is one of two objects that would have been used together to join straps or clothing. The other object would have terminated with a loop to accommodate the terminal hook. Read Class A, Type 2.
The clasp is mainly sub-triangular in plan and has a perforated knop, centrally placed, at one end. There are two similar knops at the other end, one at each side. An incomplete and corroded early Post Medieval cast copper alloy eye from a dress clasp fastener. The object is sub-oval in shape with three trifoliate attachment knops, one located at the end of the oval and one at either side of the fastener; each knop is pierced by a circular hole. At the other end of the oval there is a rectangular loop, part of the outer frame of which is missing from an old break. A copper alloy hooked tag of Brian Read's Early post-medieval Class A, Type 8. The body is flat, oval and has a recatngular loop at one end with a small circular loop immediately to both sides. Halfway around the periemter on both sides is a small rounded side-knop. The terminal is formed by a small circular loop. The body is decorated with an oval panel bearing possible foliate and floriate motifs within a beaded border. The beaded border contains a reddish coloured paste or enamel within in. A Post-Medieval cast copper alloy catch plate from a hook and eye dress fastener, dating from about 1550 - 1650 AD. The body is sub-oval in shape with a slightly domed front and has a shell-like decoration; the undecorated back is smooth and slightly concave. There are two pierced knops for attachment at one end of the body, flanking a now missing rectangular fastening loop. Cast copper alloy fastener with trefoil ropework loop: dimensions 20.13mm x 18.46mm x 1.88mm with a weight of 1.52gms.
The hook was originaly attached to the larger, central loop but has broken off due to an old break. Two of the loops are open but one of the side loops is closed by a thin sheet of copper alloy, possibly due to casting error. From the base of the loops two bars project, each 6.1mm long, with a central projecting lobe; these are then joined at the other end by a straight bar, 15.6mm long, with projecting lobes at each end. The male section of a two part toggle fastener.
A cast copper alloy, hollow backed toggle fastener with two rivet holes for the attaching of rivets, one of these rivets remains in place. The thin double collared circular male terminal is rounded and slightly offset to interlock with the open female fitting at the opposite side. This is only one piece of a pair of such fittings, the other is missing.

A corroded, but complete cast copper-alloy toggle of post-medieval date. The object has a circular cross-section but is pointed oval shape in plan. Cast integrally there is a flat-sectioned arm coming from its side which terminates in two small circular loops (set together like a figure of eight). The metal is red-brown in colour with overlying light/mid green corrosion product.
