A corroded post-medieval cast copper-alloy dress fastener hook-piece (16-17th century AD). It has an oval plate with three loops for attachment: two at the base, protruding to each side, and one at the other end with a projecting rounded collar. It has a moulded relief design: a lion passant guardant. Central on each long side is a bifurcated ornamental knop. The square loop has broken away, with only a vestige surviving beyond one of the side loops. This fastener is similar to one published by Read (2008, 176; ref. 670) which he classifies as his Early post-Medieval Class A, Type 8. …

A copper alloy probable dress fastener in the form of a wire pin fashioned in a D shape with the terminal projecting at the bottom of the loop. The terminal is in the form of a thin acorn and is semicircular in section. The rest of the object is circular in section, made of thick wire. The opposite end tapers to a sharp point. This object was probably used as a dress fastener similar to a cloak fastener or hooked tag. The acorn motif suggests a Medieval date, but no parallel has been found. The D shape appears to be intentional rather than as a result of damage. The object has a patch…

Post Medieval incomplete cast copper alloy hook or eye section from a two part fastener. The central plate is heart-shaped with a central heart shaped void and a small knop projecting form the outer sides about half way down. At the point of the heart the sides turn outwards to form a flat-edged foot shape, either end of which shows evidence of old breaks; this would have continued into a hook or eye, probably, given the position of the breaks, an eye. From the top of the heart projects a rectangle, the end of which exapands into T-bar. There is some evidence of silvering or tinning. …

An incomplete cast copper-alloy hooked tag of post-Medieval (c. 1600-c. 1700). This is one of two similar objects that would have been used together to join straps or clothing. There are two similar knops, without collars, at the attachment end, one at each side. Beyond these two knops there are the remains of a central sub-rectangular hook.
