A copper alloy clasp piece from a hook and eye fastener dating from the post medieval period. The plate is oval with an acorn shaped terminal knop. There are four broken sewing holes round the edge and a rectangular loop at the end. The front of the plate is decorated with white and light blue enamel and a central metal fleur dr lis or acorn. The fastener is similar to other hook and eye clasps from the Early post medieval period, but the use of blue and white enamel is unusual and probably suggests a late 16th or 17th century date. The fastener is 37.16mm long, 22.2mm wide and 1.3mm …

Incomplete cast copper alloy hooked section from a hook-and-eyelet dress-fastener with circular openwork in a bifid terminal. A copper alloy trefoil-shaped hooked clothes fastener of composite construction; one of the three domes which comprises the obect is missing. The hollow back of the fastener is filled with lead or a lead alloy. The fastener appears to comprise six separate components.
