Late 16th - 17th Century. Copper alloy, cast, damaged, ornate clothes fastener eyelet. Length 33.1mm, Width 18.4mm, Thickness 4.8mm, Weight 5.8g. Clothes fastener, minus the rectangular loop used to accept a hook from opposing hooked fastener, there are two remaining small, circular attachment loops but minus the third similar terminal loop. Slightly convex with a moulded scallop shape design and remains of some silvering and surface corrosion. Ref. 50BC-200AD. Iron Age, copper alloy, cast, broken and corroded 'toggle' or 'Button/loop' type dress fastener for fastening a cloak or similar clothing. Length 17.4mm, Width 11.6mm, Thickness 8.7mm, Weight 3.4g. Baluster type, minus both terminals and the circular or rectangular attachment loop. A Post-Medieval copper-alloy dress fastener. The head is circular in section and oval is plan with pointed terminals; it is 18.6mm wide and 7.5mm thick in the centre. From the centre of the head projects a narrow stem which is oval in section. The stem terminates in two circular loops, one on each side of the stem. It is 22.1mm long, 18.5mm wide, 7.3mm thick and weighs 6.5 grams. Several similar examples have been recorded on the database, including WMID-905A14, SWYOR-131B66, HAMP-S40E35 and KENT-7B0A04.

16th Century. Early Post Medieval. Copper alloy, cast, complete, one-piece Class E, type 3, circular/sub-circular clothes hook fastener. Length 30.5mm, Width 16.4mm, Thickness 1.7mm, Weight 1.9g. Moulded relief and openwork, an equal armed cross with a central pellet within a linear circle, a beaded and engrailed edge. Rectangular strap attachment and there are the remains of black laquer on the surface. Slightly distorted central circular panel, otherwise dark brown patina. Rerf. Post medieval hooked fastener. Cast in copper alloy, this fastener now has a pale green patina. The retangular fastener has a row of three openwork circles surrounded by moulded decoration positioned just above the in tact hook. The rectangular loop has a rope work moulding along the attachment edge. The fastener is 29.27mm wide, 13.46mm thick and it weighs 1.6 grams.

Copper alloy oval hasp with floral decoration which would have been paired with a similarly shaped and decorated piece bearing a broad hook. The hasp has a rectangular frame projecting from one end into which the hook from the other section would have fitted, and three projecting circular lugs for sewing onto fabric. The hasp measures 32mm by 28mm and is 1.5mm thick. It is of 17th century date.

An Early Post Medieval cast copper alloy dress fastening. The tag is sub lozenge shaped in plan with three attachment knops and ornamental knops on either side. A rectangular projection from one end of the lozenge where the paired hooked fastener attaches. There is molded floral decoration in the center of the lozenge; the reverse is undecorated. Read Class A Type 10. The tag is 36.1mm long, 21.5mm wide, 2.1mm thick and weighs 5.48 grams.

A Post Medieval copper alloy dress hook, c. AD1500-1600. The hook is molded in one piece with molded relief and openwork. There is a raised linear circle in the center surrounded by two elongated knops on either side and a swag at the junction of the plate and hook. The attachment plate is bent back on itself and the hook is also bent. A similar example can be seen in Read (2008) page, ref 398. The hook is 28.1mm long, 16.6mm wide, 2.2mm thick and weighs 3.22 grams.

An incomplete Post Medieval silver-gilt dress hook. This example is a fragment of a Read, Class A, Type 2 example; consisting of the lower dome of a trefoil shaped fastening. The dress hook is broken at the upper portion of the dome, where it was formerly connected to a further two domes. The circumference of the plate is decorated with a scalloped edge.
