A cast copper alloy dress fastener hook piece of post-medieval date. The fastener measures 33.6mm by 16.8mm by 2.2mm and weighs 4g. It has an teardrop-shaped plate with a trapezoidal loop at one end. At the other end there is a small projecting circular loop and there are two further circular loops on each side of the plate, adjacent to the trapezoidal hook. The small holes may have been used for attachment to cloth. The front of the plate has a bevelled edge and traces of silvering or tinning.

A cast copper alloy dress fastener of probable seventeenth century date. The flat oval hook-piece measures 36.5mm by 22mm by 2.3mm and weighs 5.9g. At one end is the stub of the flat hook, which has a smaller circular attachment loop on each side. In the centre of each side there is a rounded knop. At the other end there is a further small circular attachment loop which has a slight rounded knop to each side. A cast copper alloy dress fastener hook-piece of probable seventeenth century date. The fastener measures 36.3mm by 15.8mm by 2.6mm and weighs 3.2g. It has an oval plate with a trapezoidal loop at one end. At the other end there is a small incomplete projecting circular loop and there were originally two further circular loops on each side of the plate adjacent to the trapezoidal hook, although one of these is incomplete. The small holes may have been used for attachment to cloth. The front of the plate has faint moulded floriate decoration and the back in slightly concave.

A cast copper alloy dress fastener of probable seventeenth century date. The flat oval catch-piece measures 34.6mm by 27.3mm by 1.4mm and weighs 4g. At one end is rectangular loop. At the opposite end and part way along each side there is a small attachment loop. All three are circular with projecting external knops. The front of the plate is decorated with a stamped floriate motif. The catch-piece would have had a corresponding hook-piece.

Treasure case 2010 T399: Acquired by Museum of Somerset. Silver-gilt cast dress fastener, dome shaped with rope twist edging. Along the inside of the edging are five evenly spaced bosses with rope twist edging, each making contact. In the space left on the outside of these bosses is a triangular design of three smaller knops; two knops by the outer rope twist and the third completing the triangle. The fastener is made up from several pieces of wire, the ends of which have been twisted into spirals and which are held together with a central plate of narrow wire which has been wound around the other elements and then squashed flat. An incomplete cast copper alloy dress fastener catch-piece of post-medieval date. The fastener, which is in the shape of an acorn, measures 33.5mm by 21.4mm by 3.3mm and weighs 4.3g. It has a convex front and concave back. At the cup end there is a square loop and adjacent to this there are two smaller round attachment loops, one of which is broken. There is a further small broken attachment loop at the opposite end.

An incomplete cast copper alloy dress fastener or clasp of late medieval to early post-medieval date. The fastener measures 19.8mm by 14.6mm by 2.4mm and weighs 1.2g. It consists of a lozenge-shaped plate which is riveted to an incomplete double-ended hook. The front is decorated with several linears made up from small incised holes: a central vertical with three diagonals on each side. Similar double-hooked fasteners can be seen in 'Norwich Households' (1993, pp. 18-9, no. 81) and in 'Meols: The Archaeology of the North Wirral Coast' (2008, pp. 216 and 218, no. 3038).

An incomplete early Post-Medieval copper alloy hooked dress fastener. The object is simply constructed from sheet metal. It is sub-circular in shape with a slightly convex outer face and concave reverse, and has a sub-triangular loop attached to the outer edge. A hook would have originally extended from the opposite edge, but this is now missing. The outer face of the circular plate has a slightly raised rim around the edge, containing within it a raised design that is now impossible to make out in any detail. One face is decorated with small light green and white triangles surrounding a central raised oval. Much of the enamelling is missing and the metal is in poor condition. Dr Dora Thornton, Curator of Renaissance Collections, Department of Prehistory and Europe, British Museum, provided the following report: Silver(?) heart-shaped hook with impressed design of a flower and two holes for attachment. Design and facture indicate a modern date, probably early 20th Century.

Silver dress fitting comprising a domed circle of silver, with design of three knops surrounded by raised filigree ropetwists and smaller knops within ropetwist border.
