16th Century. Early Post Medieval. Copper alloy, cast, complete, one-piece Class E, type 3, circular/sub-circular clothes hook fastener. Length 30.5mm, Width 16.4mm, Thickness 1.7mm, Weight 1.9g. Moulded relief and openwork, an equal armed cross with a central pellet within a linear circle, a beaded and engrailed edge. Rectangular strap attachment and there are the remains of black laquer on the surface. Slightly distorted central circular panel, otherwise dark brown patina. Rerf. A silver dress fastener; the hook piece from a hook and eye catch. It is in the form of an acorn with a cross hatched cup and a smooth acorn. The flat hook projects from the base of the cup and bends backwards in a U shape. There are three circular sewing loops; one at the apex of the acorn, and one on each side of the hook. Treasure case 2010 T399: Acquired by Museum of Somerset. Silver-gilt cast dress fastener, dome shaped with rope twist edging. Along the inside of the edging are five evenly spaced bosses with rope twist edging, each making contact. In the space left on the outside of these bosses is a triangular design of three smaller knops; two knops by the outer rope twist and the third completing the triangle. A copper alloy fastener or toggle of Post-Medieval date. It is 24.21mm in length, 19.09mm in width and 7.5mm thick. It weighs 7.61gm. It consists of a rounded body in the shape of a pointed oval, from the centre at one side of which extends a short, oval shaft which terminates with a pair of flat loops, positioned side by side. The pestle has a smooth, dark green patina. Examples on the PAS Database include SWYOR E137B1, and DENO-D53724 lists many others. Silver-gilt mount, basically triangular form with two leaf-shaped elements along one edge meeting at a point; pierced design with two openings, the larger one apparently for attachment to another to form a clasp. A complete cast copper alloy Post-Medieval dress fastener of 18th century date. The toggle has a pointed oval body with a circular sectioned shank extending from one side. The shank terminates in a double loop, positioned side by side. The toggle is undecorated.The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The toggle is 26.8mm long, 22.7mm wide, 8.3mm thick and weighs 8.4g. There is some debate as to whether these objects are cosmetic pestles as recorded in SWYOR-E137B1 and DENO-D53724 or toggles of post-medieval date as seen in SF-332DF0.

Cast copper alloy 'Female' tag from a pair hooked tags length 37mm, width 29mm, thickness 2mm, weight 4.75g. The tag has a sub-oval plate with a large rectangular loop at one end. Immediately behind the rectangular loop are two pierced knops with a third at the rear for attachment. The centre of the plate is a cross with a single curvilinear motif in each angle. This artefact dates to the 16th - 17th century.

Loop part of a two part cast copper alloy dress fastener of Post-Medieval, seventeenth century date (AD 1600 - AD 1700). It has a flat central plate with a plain rectangular loop to one side and three semi-circular pierced knops for sewing it to the garment projecting from the rim, two flanking the main loop and one, now mostly missing to old breaks, opposite it. At one end are two small semi-circular knops flanking a larger knop which is pierced for attaching to the clothing. A complete copper alloy hooked tag, cast in one piece with moulded relief. Tinned. Rectangular eye is 15mm wide and 5mm long. The frame is 2mm thick. The plate is oval with moulding depicting two small flowers on stalks with leaves springing from a central barwithin a hatched border. Three knops to accommodate stitching to attach the object to the sleeve - one on the central base and one either side of the rectangular eye. The hook equivalent can be seen in Brian Read's "Hooked Clasps and Eyes" page 173, figure 651. Described by Read as Early Post-Medieval Class 2. 1500-1600 AD.

A complete silver gilt dress hook with a cast plate and an applied wire loop. The plate is triangular; the front face has an applied filigree border. In the centre is a raised boss decorated with a filigree trefoil and a central silver knop, there are three knops around, one in each corner of the plate.
