Post medieval copper alloy blunt-hooked dress fastener, 34mm long, 16mm wide and 3mm thick. It consists of a domed plate in the shape of a scallop shell, decorated with incised radiating lines. From this projects a rectangular shaft with a rounded end whihc has been made into a forward-facing hook. To either side of the junction between the plate and the hook is a small circular attachment loop; a third projecting loop, at the top of the shell, contains a copper-alloy rivet. Post medieval silvered copper alloy clothes fastener, 27mm long, 22mm wide and 2mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a silvered patina and weighs 3.35grams. The object is sub triangular in form and is decorated with incised foliate decoration surrounded by a border of circles. It has the clear remains of two pierced lobes at each side (there should be a third at the top) which would have secured it to clothing. The object is also missing either a rectangular slot or a hook at its base. The reverse is plain.

Post Medieval copper alloy dress fastener, 37mm long, 20mm wide and 4mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 4.32grams. The fastener is oval in form and rectangular in section. It has a trapezoidal loop at one end which would attach to a hook on a similar fastener. Either side of this is a small circular fixing loop, with a further one centrally placed at the far end. The oval is decorated with a rasied foliate pattern in a rope like border and at each side it has two small curled protrusions. Class A, Type 8. B Read, 2008, Pg. 176, No. 665.

Post Medieval copper alloy hooked tag, 36mm long and 17mm wide. The object is in good condition with a dark green patina and weighs 2.09 grams. The object consists of a protruding rectangular 'loop' which sits above a circular plate. This plate has a border of protruding circular knops which contain a raised cross with a central circular knop. There are four drilled circular holes in each quarter. At the base there is a circular sectioned hook which is C. 15mm long.

Post Medieval copper alloy and silver dress fastener, 38mm long and 29mm wide. The object is in fair condition with a greenish patina. It consists of an oval plate which has one end cropped to accomodate a rectangular suspension loop, 13mm wide, which is seperated from the main body by a raised collar. At the opposite end and at the centre of each of its curved sides, there is an oval protrusion which has a circular hole drilled into it. The surface has traces of silvering on both sides and the reverse is completly flat. B Read, 2008, pg.170, No. 635.

The object consists of an oval domed central section, 4mm deep, which has a rivet? loop at its widest end. The other end has an elongated neck which has two more loops at its base. This neck is 9mm long and 6mm wide and it bends outwards slightly where it has snapped off.

A Post Medieval copper alloy incomplete openwork hooked dress fastener. It cosists of two adjoining circular loops with evidence of a break to one side of the centre, where further loops presumably attached. At the other side a short strip is all that remains of the hoop. An example in Read (2008, p.111, no.446) suggests that originally there would have had a further two adjoining circular loops, creating an openwork design, followed by a sub-rectangular attachment loop at the other end. An incomplete post-medieval cast copper-alloy dress fastener (c. 1600-c. 1700 AD). This is one of two similar objects that would have been used together to join straps or clothing. An incomplete copper-alloy Post-Medieval hooked tag of Read's Class E Type 3 (Read, 2008, p.92, no. 325). It is badly worn and is missing most of its rectangular sewing lug at the top. The plate is circular in form with a hollow-domed boss which bears a forward facing bust possibly wearing a wreath or turban, arranged so the face points slightly towards the integral hook, which is circular in section and gradually tapers to the curved tip. The object measures 31mm in length, 12mm in width, 3mm in thickness, and 2g in weight. See also SF-DC02A3.
