The object consists of an integral flat plate broadly oval in plan, divided into two asymmetrical halves; the larger (14.2mm wide, 6.5mm long, 1.7mm thick) half is decorated on its obverse face by three lobes radiating from the centre of the half’s lower edge. Copper alloy 'female' tag from a pair hooked tags. The tag has a circular openwork plate that is formed ring that forms the outer edge. Projecting inwards are four evenly spaced arches that grip a central roundel that is decorated with a human head. On the forward edge is a large rectangular loop (the front is truncated) that forms the female element for the corresponding hooked plate. Either side of the plate are two pierced attachment lugs with a third at the rear that has been shaped into a scallop shell.

The frame is in the form of quatrefoil 'knot' with five raised pellets. The outer frame is decorated with grooves. Where the object extends to form the rearward facing hook is a triple ribbed collar. The dress hook has a large lozenge-shaped head decorated with raised pellets around a central lozenge-shape cell. On the reverse of the dress hook is a rectangular bar for attachment to clothing. At the base of the plate the copper alloy hook is inserted into a lead sleeve. The hook is complete. Similar dress hooks are illustrated in Read (2008:68). They date to the 16th century AD.

An incomplete cast copper alloy barrel dress fastener of Read's (2008) Class C Type 3, dating to the late medieval / post-medieval period. The fastener has a rounded front but is missing the flat back plate. There is a broken hook projecting from one end of the fastener, and a large, secondary hole towards the rear terminal. The front of the fastening is decorated with a cross-hatched design boound top and bottom by a double linear. An identical example can be seen in Read (2008:54) no. 168.

An incomplete and bent copper alloy hooked tag, dating to the Post Medieval period. On the face side it has a devolved floriate design consisting of two oval "circles" with three smaller circles or scrolls within. The complete object would have had three attachment knops, two ornamental knops and either a blunt hook ot squared loop. This dress fitting is a Read (2008:175) Class A Type 8 post-medieval hooked tag dating from c. AD 1550-1700.

The dress fastener has a circular central plate decorated in moulded relief with a six-petalled flower within two concentric linear circles with alternating pellets and transverse band (ibid.). An incomplete cast copper alloy Post-medieval hooked clasp with moulded relief displaying the Commonwealth Arms. The clasp is ovoid in plan and has one attachement loop on the left side and two on the right, where the remains of the hook protrude. The centre of the clasp is decorated with the joined shields of the Commonwealth Arms, - only the left shield bearing the Cross of St George can be discerned clearly, while the shield on the right (Irish harp) is very worn. An incomplete cast copper alloy dress-hook or hooked tag. The object consists of a circular plate with openwork, moulded decoration, with a rose in the centre. The hook and loop have broken off, all breaks are worn. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The plate has a raised rim, with two loops at the 11 and 1 O' clock position respectively. the rectangular loop survives on the top of the tag. The surface is light silvery-grey colour. This artefact is late medieval to early post-medieval in date.

A Post-Medieval copper alloy dress fastener (16th-17th century). The plate is oval and domed with a hollow reverse. The front surface is decorated with rows of alternate raised and depressed squares forming a chequer-board pattern. The depressions possibly held enamel originally. Silver dress hook, cast in the form of a scallop shell. At the base of the shell is a recurving hook for attachment; opposite this, a small attachment loop on the edge of the shell, two further loops at the base of the hook. Reverse plain. Length: 2.9mm. 15th-16thCentury. The hook is in one plane, and can be compared with similar dress hooks cast in copper-alloy. Silver versions appear to be relatively rare survivals.
