An incomplete copper-alloy probable Dress Fastener (blunt hook) of Post-Medieval date (AD 1600-1750). The object is composed of a sub-ovate plate with two, evenly spaced perforated lobes, each with a central circular perforation. The central plate tapers to a rectangular projection which terminates in a transverse break, which would have formed a blunt hook. The upper surface is decorated with an integral motif consisting if an arrow shape with lozenge below, tapering to a rectangular shaft, which extends down the hooked aspect. An incomplete copper alloy hook piece from a hooked clasp and eye fastener. The end of the tapered hook is missing. The object comprises a circular plate, hollowed at the rear, with a trapezoidal loop for attachment at one and the remnant of a tapering hook opposite. The front of the circular plate is decorated with a circular framing ridge at the edge surrounding a motif of a human head in relief. It is made from thick gauge circular-sectioned copper alloy wire, bent double, then bent into a hook, with the ends each curving out to the side to form two sewing or attachment loops. The object is 37.1mm long, 25.4mm wide, 18.9mm thick and weighs 14.0g. A copper alloy probable shoe or clog hasp, which would have been used with a similar clasp to secure a wooden shoe to the foot, dating from AD 1700 - 1900. It is a rectangular frame round a rectangular opening. Projecting from one long edge are two prongs, curving away from each other, forming an anchor like double hook. Measurements are; length 18.1mm, width 21.1mm, thickness 1.6mm and weight 1.37g. The opening on the hasp would have taken the hooked part of the clasp. The date and function of objects of this form are debated, it being either a Late Iron Age or Roman cosmetic pestle, or a Post Medieval clothing fastener toggle. It consists of a rounded body in the shape of a pointed oval, circular in section, from one side of which extends a short, sub-rectangular sectioned shaft ending in a pair of rings positioned side by side. Copper alloy 'male' tag from a pair hooked tags. The tag has a circular plate with the base of a truncated hook at one end.  Either side of the hook are two pierced lugs (one is missing) with a third at the rear for attachment. The centre of the plate is decorated with a central harp surrounded by two rows of ropework style concentric rings. This artefact dates to the 16th century. See SOM-405427 for the looped ‘female’ equivalent.

An incomplete post-medieval cast copper-alloy openwork dress clasp, broken at the diagnostic end but an eye piece, based on similar examples (c. 17th century).
