An incomplete copper alloy Dress Fitting (dress eye) of Post Medieval date (AD 1550-1700). The object is composed of a sub-circular central element with a flat rectangular loop at the upper end. The opposing end of the fastening has a worn knop which would have been cinquefoil in form, it terminates in an old, abraded break and a portion circular perforation is retained. There are two further perforations within the plate toward the loop end. These holes would have enabled the fastening to be sewn to a garment to secure it in place.
