A cast, copper alloy catch plate from a hook and eye dress fastener, dating from 1500-1700AD. The body is oval in shape. At one end are two small semi-circular knops flanking a larger knop which is pierced for attaching to the clothing. There are two further pierced knops for attachment at the opposite end of the body, flanking a rectangular fastening loop. Halfway along each side of the body are two small projections divided by a shallow notch. There is no other decoration visible. The fastener is 39.2mm long, 23.1mm wide and 1.9mm thick.
