Corresponding to Read's class D/1, it is of sheet metal manufacture, with a round main body from the upper edge of which two small rounded and perforated attachment knops project. The fastener is preserved intact, though the hook on the rear face of the object is partially broken and distorted in old damage. The tag is constructed in one piece, with a sub rectangular shaped loop located at the top and an incomplete hook located at the bottom of the dress fastener. The plate is a trefoil with pellets and is decorated with a central rose design. Copper alloy clasp. A drawn wire clasp of triangular form with a pair of basal loops flanking a separate short sharp backward pointing hook, cf. Read Early post-Medieval Class A Type 1 sharp wire clasp. The separate wire hook is anchored by its bent end being looped around the top of the triangular frame whose converging sides provide the side loops. The lower part of the triangle is tightly wrapped with drawn wire of thickness c.0.3mm. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1550-1650. Post medieval copper alloy dress fastener, 34mm long, 18mm wide and 4mm thick with a weight of 4.71grams. The object is oval in form and is decorated with a series of incised lines creating a scallop shell effect. This is slightly cancave and hollow underneath. At the upper edge it has two tapering projections forming a V shape terminal and on each side under this is a circular fixing loop. Theres are traces of a third broken loop at the far end, this would have formed the 'eye' part of a two part dress fastener with a duplicate mount having a hooked end.

A one-piece single sharp-hooked clasp of the early post-medieval period. The plate has moulded-in-relief decoration. The detail is obscured by a deposit on the surface, but appears to be a sheaf of wheat in nature. The attachment loop is rounded, a characteristic of clasps of this class. The end of the hook is missing. The dress hook can be classified as Read's Class H distinguished by the rounded attachment loop which can be dated to the 16th Century.
