A post-medieval copper alloy dress fastener, probably dating to AD 1550-1700. A sub circular fastener with moulded relief and openwork missing its hook. There is a pellet either side of the junction of the plate and the loop, a cross with central pellet which protrudes beyond the edges forming small rounded knops, and two knops either side of the hook.
The fastener measures 21.7mm in length, 16.4mm in width, 1.67mm in thickness and weighs 1.26 grams.
cf. No. 414 in Read (2008), Class E Type 3 and is dated to the early post medieval period.

An Early Medieval to Medieval copper alloy hooked tag, probably dating to AD 700-1100. The tag consists of a circular plate, with a sharp, rearwards facing hook projecting from the base. There are two circular perforations at the opposite end. The plate is inscribed with decoration depicting an expanding armed cross within a field of radiating lines. There is a split in the metal along one of the incised radiating lines near the hook.
Dimensions: 26.68mm in length; 21.03mm in width; 0.77mm thick; 0.9g in weight.

Part of a Post-Medieval copper alloy dress fastener of Read's (2008) Class a type 10, dating to c. 1600-1700. The fastener consists of a lozengiform plate with slightly concave sides, with pairs of opposed scrolled volutes projecting from the two angles on the lateral sides. A rectangular loop projects from one ond, with the juncture with the plate flanked by sewing loops. A third sewing loop projects from between a further pair of volutes at the opposite end. The front of the plate is decorated with a floral motif, cast in low relief.

An incomplete Post Medieval cast copper alloy openwork dress fastener, dating to c. AD 1600-1750. The find is the 'eye' half of a hook and eye fastener. The main body of the find is heart-shaped in plan with two small lobes above the heart. The rectangular loop which would have been above the two lobes in order to accept the clasp, is now missing, due to an old break. A complete Early Post-Medieval cast copper alloy hooked clasp dress fastener, dating to c. AD 1600-1700. Read Class A, Type 1 (with three attachment knops). The find is circular in plan with a sub-rectangular eye at the top and three pierced lobes for attachment situated at 2 o'clock (this lobe is bent backwards slightly), 6 o'clock (this lobe has a knop at the base) and 10 o'clock. Dress fitting, oval with a rectangular loop at one end and a kidney shaped protrusion to each side. Either side of the loop, and at the distal end, are small loops for sewing the fitting onto a garment. The main field is inlaid with enamel, the design now difficult to interpret but appears to have consisted of round sided triangles separated by bands of undecorated metal. A corroded and incomplete cast copper-alloy hooked mount of post-medieval date. The mount is formed of an openwork trefoil plate with a bifurcating collar below, the terminal of which would have curved back in a blunt hook, now missing. The upper lobe of the trefoil and the lower lobe both have an integral perforated flat lug to receive a rivet. In both holes the corroded iron remains of the rivets survive in situ. The copper alloy has a general grey colour which is heavily corroded. It measures 34.5mm long, 14.85mm wide and weighs 2.3g.

A fragment of a possible silver dress fitting. Shaped like the letter 'T' with gradual curving under the arms which point up from the stem to create two prongs. One prong is bent. The stem of this item may have been part of a recurving hook, however this has been broken off.

Cast copper alloy early Post Medieval dress hook/fitting, Read class A, Type 2 (p.168-171).
It is sub-oval in plan with a rectangular loop at the top and three attachment knops, one at the bottom, and one on either side. Each of the knops has a circular perforation for attachment. Below the top rectangular loop is a double collar consisting on two horizontal lines.
It has been engraved/punched on the front for decoration, the reverse is plain. The edge of the front has a border of raised dots, in the centre is a floral motif, coming from the top. It is very similar to no. 642 in R…

It measures 63.27mm long, 8.96mm wide, 3.51mm thick, and weighs 2.5g.
