An incomplete copper alloy dress fastener dating to the 17th century. A Read Class A, type 9. It comprises a flat, oval plate, pointed one end,  the remnant of a rectangular attachment loop which is mainly all missing. The plate is flanked by the remnants of three rounded, pierced lugs for attachment, one on either side below the missing loop and one at the pointed end. Treasure Case 2022 T851 Description:  A complete silver gilded eye piece from a hook and eye fastener dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1500-1700). The body of the piece is broadly heart shaped, with sewing loops either side of the point of the loop and a larger loop at the top of the heart. The large hoop is where the hook from the other part of the fastener would have previously been attached.
