A complete copper-alloy hooked clasp. A single sharp-hooked clasp. It comprises a trapeziodal loop at the top of a solid, circular plate with a long tapering hook extending from the lower edge. The hook has a trapeziodal cross section and is curved backwards.It terminates in a sharp point. The circular plate is decorated with a moulded five petalled double rose. A very worn and incomplete cast copper alloy dress fastener (hooked tag) dating to the post-medieval epriod. The hooked tag is of Read's (2008) Class E Type 3 - having a sub-circular body depiciting a human bust, possibly of classical design, within a rounded frame. The attachment loop is broken and missing and at the opposing end the hook is incomplete. All elements of this hooked tag are very worn. For comparison see Read (2008) p92-94.

Copper alloy 'female' tag from a pair hooked tags. The tag has a circular openwork plate that is decorated with a central six petalled flower that is surrounded by four curvilinear scrollwork bands, this is all encased within a circular border. On the forward edge is a large rectangular loop that forms the female element for the corresponding hooked plate. Either side of the plate are two pierced attachment lugs with a third at the rear, this final loop has a rearward projecting knop at the back. This artefact dates to the 16th century.

Immediately behind the hook are two pierced knops for attachment, both are truncated, there would be a third attachment loop at the rear but again this is truncated. The centre of the plate is decorated with a foliate design encircled by and oval border. This artefact dates to the 16th century.

Copper alloy dress fastener dating from the earlier post-medieval period, c. 16th century. The object was made from copper alloy or, possibly, a lead or tin-alloy (judging by the current colour) but is very worn and not in a good condition. All surfaces are rough to the touch. Originally it was flat oval in shape, but only half of it remains. There is no suspension loop suggesting that this might be the lower half of the item. It was oval, with moulded flowers within an oval frame on the obverse and decorative floral mouldings on the apices. Read Class A, type 8.
