An incomplete cast lead alloy dress fastener or hooked tag of early post-medieval date. The hooked tag is a rounded oval in plan and has two attachment holes drilled through the decorated face plate. The upper suqared loop and the lower loop or possibly the hook, are missing. The holes through the plate are unusual for a hooked tag of this type and they may have been redrilled after the periphery loops broke off. The decotation on the front of the plate is an abstract spray of flowers. Suggested date AD 1500-1600.

An incomplete lead or lead alloy and iron medieval to post-medieval dress hook. It has a circular body and two ajoining circular suspension loops extending from one end. A break and traces of iron corrosion product at the opposite end suggests that an iron hook was attached here originally. The outer face of the circular section is decorated with a raised line around the outer edge and a central raised annulet with three double raised lines radiating outwards from it at regular intervals. It has some similarities with the lead/tin example illustrated by Read (2008, 126, no.517), wh…

A lead alloy clothing fastener with a decorated oval plate. This type of fastener is similar to the slightly early dress hooks but lacks a hook and was probably used as an 'eye' for a similar shaped hook. It has a rectangular loop at one end with pierced circular knops below. The oval plate is decorated with three raised concentric beaded oval borders around a central motif. This is unclear but appears to consist of loops or bows with (possibly) floral motifs within. There is a central motif which may be a face. There is a small moulded bi-lobed knop in the centre of each side and anot…
