An incomplete, corroded post-medieval cast copper-alloy dress fastener hook-piece, dating to the16-17th century AD (AD 1500-1700). It has an oval plate with three loops for attachment: two at the base, protruding to each side, and one at the other end with a projecting rounded collar. It has a moulded relief design: a lion passant guardant, facing left. Central on each long side is a bifurcated ornamental knop. The square loop has broken away, with only a vestige surviving beyond one of the side loops. Read (2008, pg 176; no. 670) classifies it as early post-Medieval Class A, Type 8.

Complete copper alloy hooked clasp, AD 1550-1650. The hooked clasp is a single piece of metal that is convex. It is oval in shape with three loops arranged in a triangular pattern, two opposite and one at the apex of the oval. At the opposite apex between the two loops is the integrally cast hook, this is a rectangle of metal that has been back curved to clasp an eye on the opposite clasp. A Medieval to early Post Medieval copper-alloy clothing fastener dating from the mid 14th to early 16th centuries AD. The fastener comprises two plates terminating in curved hooks. The plates are secured by means of a hinge. The upper surface of both plates is decorated with an incised shield pattern. The fastener measures 26.5mm in length, 7.4mm in width, 0.8mm thick and weighs 3.45 grams. A similar fastener can be found on the PAS database: CAM-FE05B7, which has a suggested date of late 14th-early 16th century AD.
