A complete copper alloy post-medieval dress fastener, c. 16th century AD (1500 - 1650 AD) . The fastener is the 'female' tag from pair of hooked tags; it has a sub-oval plate with a large rectangular loop at one end. Either side of the plate are two rounded attachment knops, with a third debased trefoil attachment knop at the base of the clasp. The eye section of the clasp is convex, with moulded relief, consisting of a hollow-dome bearing a wreathed irish harp.

An incomplete copper alloy post-medieval dress fastener, c. 16th century AD. The fastener is the 'female' tag from pair of hooked tags; it has a sub-oval plate with a large rectangular loop at one end (now partially broken). Either side of the plate are two smaller pierced lugs, with a third at the rear of the tag for attachment (the third is also broken). The centre of the plate is decorated with a harp motif, which is likely to be a south western type. Cf. OXON-A8A1BE and GLO-EE60B7.

An incomplete copper alloy single-hooked clasp of late medieval to early post-medieval date, c. 16th century AD. The form of the dress fastener comprises a trefoil of hollow domed bosses, each decorated with pellets and twisted wire filigree. The central circular depression is empty, but may originally have held glass or gem. Some evidence of white metal coating. On the back there is a soldered copper alloy attachment bar, and at the bottom, evidence of a broken hook.

An incomplete early Post-Medieval dress fastener dating to AD.1550-1700. The dress fastener consists of the eye section of an hook and eye fastener.
The cast plate is circular in plan and it is now bent backwards on one side. On the front it is decorated with a moulded-relief openwork depicting a central six-petalled flower. Around the flower are four mouldings in the form of pairs of curled lines. The fastener consists of an oval plate with three perforated lugs for attachment. Two of these lugs are at its base, flanking an rectangular hook section projecting 9.0mm from the base of the fastener which has been broken at the turn of the hook. The final lug is placed at the opposite end, expanding from a slightly flanged collar. Additionally, expanding from the centre of either side of the fastener are two bifurcating scrolled knops.

Description: A fragment of a probably Post Medieval dress accessory of uncertain form, made of silver wire. The fragment consists of a triangular piece, broken and distorted along one edge but seemingly complete on the other two sides. The back of the object is made of silver wire laid in a grid, with interwoven strands like a net. A copper alloy post medieval dress fastener of Read's Class A Type 2 dating to the period c. AD 1500 - 1650. The dress fastener consists of a rectangular loop which projects from the oval plate. The plate exhibits relief decoration in the form of a human head surrounded by foliate tendrils within a reserve border which forms the edge of the plate. There are four rounded attachment knops positioned around the edge of the plate. The plate terminates in a projecting oval knop incised with a series of grooves. The object has a worn green/brown patina.
