A gold disc, probably part of a late Post Medieval or Modern collar stud or similar dress fitting, dating from AD 1850 - 2000. It is a shallowly domed disc with no decoration. The reverse is concave and is partially covered with a black coating, perhaps an adhesive as there is no other evidence of attachment. There is a flange round the edge which is flatter and uncoated. Description: Gold hook element from a dress fastener, of composite construction, consisting of a hook (now incomplete) and an applied plate made from several elements. The applied plate is built up on a backplate made from a piece of circular sheet gold about 7mm in diameter. The fastener is comprised of a hollow spherical head with a flattened base which has a very small central circular perforation and a D-shaped perforation to one curved edge. Post Medieval dress fastener 15mm long, 15mm wide and 2mm thick. The object is in good condition and weighs 0.67grams. The object is semi-circular in form with three small circular attachment loops around its outer edge. It is decorated with a large triangular motif formed of twisted wire with a floral motif in another triangle in its centre. Twisted wire also decorates the objects edge, which has four rounded protrusions with the loops sitting between.
