A copper alloy dress fastener element; the eye piece from a blunt-hooked, hook and eye clasp, of Post Medieval date, probably AD 1500 - 1800.
The object is a pointed oval plate, with a broken sub-rectangular eye at one end, and a large circular hole perforating the other end. The front has a design in relief which is badly corroded and unintelligible apart from one curling scroll tendril near the eye. There are traces of a white metal coating.

A cast, copper alloy artefact, probably a Post Medieval dress fastener or toggle dating from about AD 1600 - 1800. The date and function of objects of this form are debated, it being either a Late Iron Age or Roman cosmetic pestle, or a Post Medieval clothing fastener toggle.
It consists of a rounded body in the shape of a pointed oval, circular in section, from one side of which extends a short, sub-rectangular sectioned shaft ending in a pair of rings positioned side by side. A complete copper-alloy dress hook of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1500 - 1650. The dress hook is of Reads Class A, Type 1 being circular in plan with three attachment knops. The main plate has moulded relief and openwork decoration. The decoration comprises seven pellets forming a stylised six-petalled flower at the centre, set within two concentric linear circles with alternating pellets and transverse bands.

A late Medieval to post medieval silver mount or strap fitting or dress fastener probably dating from AD 1400 - 1650. It is broadly D shaped in plan, with the curved edge being scalloped, and the straight edge having concave corners. In the centre of the curved convex edge is a projecting lobe, extending outwards and projecting forwards. It is decorated with two grooves running along it making it fluted. The area of the mount to each side of this lobe, has four rounded lobes along the scalloped edge on each side.

A copper alloy dress fastener or mount from dating from about AD 1200-1700. It is a lozenge shaped plate of copper alloy with no surviving evidence of attachment. The front has an incised border with short transverse lines between the border line and the edge of the plate. The centre of the plate is decorated with faint rocker arm decoration. A copper alloy possible Post Medieval dress fastener, part of a composite wire hook and eye dating from about AD 1500 - 1700. It is a circular disc of copper alloy with no visible decoration surviving. On the reverse is attached a short length of copper alloy wire, laying along one edge of the disc. This probably once extended into a sideways projecting hook or loop for attachment. The object is 13.9mm diameter, 2.5mm thick and 1.37g.

Description: A medieval or post-medieval silver mount or strap fitting. Across the centre of the mount is a ridge in the shape of a shallow "w". Above each side is a slightly concave face which widens towards the centre. There is a small knop that rises above the ridge. Below the ridge the mount is semi-circular with a rivet hole in the centre. The reverse has diagonal incised lines and a circular stud either side of the rivet hole.

A complete copper-alloy dress-hook eye of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1500 - 1650. The dress-hook eye is of Reads Class A, Type 8 being oval in plan with three attachment knops, two bifurcate ornamental knops and a rectangular attachment loop. The upper surface is decorated with an oval panel bearing a human facing mask wearing a headdress within a beaded border. The reverse is flat and undecorated though traces of silvering remain on the upper surface.
The metal has a mid -green patina and is worn. The dress hook is 39.4mm long, 22.4mm wide, 2.1mm thick and weighs 4.6g.

A cast silver-gilt dress fitting dating from the 16th century. It is the eye piece from a hook and eye fitting and has applied filigree decoration. The fitting is sub-triangular in plan with a large wire loop projecting from the straight base. This loop is soldered on to the reverse.
