A copper alloy dress fastener or mount from dating from about AD 1200-1700. It is a lozenge shaped plate of copper alloy with no surviving evidence of attachment. The front has an incised border with short transverse lines between the border line and the edge of the plate. The centre of the plate is decorated with faint rocker arm decoration. The plate is 20.2mm long, 17.5mm wide and 1.9mm deep. It weighs 1.4 grams. The patina dark grey/brown. An Early-Medieval, copper-alloy double-hooked dress-fastener. The hooks are conjoined by an integral sub-rectangular sectioned bar that is pierced by a neat, probably drilled, transverse hole. On the central bar decoration is clearly visible on the side facing towards the inwards-curving hooks. It is decorated with five pairs of incised lines running across its width. These are seperated by four or five incised lines running lengthways along the bar. Very faint traces of the decoration can be seen on other sides also. The dress-hook eye is of Reads Class A, Type 8 being oval in plan with three attachment knops, two bifurcate ornamental knops and a rectangular attachment loop.
