A complete, iron medieval to post-medieval dress fastener dating to the 13th-16th centuries AD. Double hook with curled terminals and a central lozenge sheet which shows iron corrosion. No decoration is visible. This item resembles a hooked attachment for spur leathers - for parallel see Read 2001 p.60 no. 503 and Ellis 2004 p. 148-149, fig. 106 no. 365-371 which are dated to the c.13th-16th century. Cast copper alloy hook fastener. The object is ovoid with a rectangular hole. There are two circular perforations at the outside base of this rectangular projection. On the opposite side of the oval is another eye. The decoration consists of alternate moulded and segmented lines with a central design of spirals to either side of an indeterminate description. There are double spiral-decorated knops in the centre of the two long sides.
