A Post Medieval Copper alloy Tudor clothes fastener. The main body of the fastener is a domed circle with an oval loop attachment at the top and a narrow broken hook at the bottom. There is a floral pattern on the surface of the object with four petals, each with three short lines and a central pellet in a circle. There is a rope-like border around the body.

A post-medieval silver dress fastener, dating to the 16th century. The dress fastener is circular and has a domed centre decorated with a moulded flower head. The flower head has eight pointed oval leaves extending from a central pellet. A perimeter of pellets surrounds the flower head. Three integral small loops extend from the perimeter; these are evenly spaced around the side. The reverse is concave and undecorated.

A complete copper alloy hooked tag dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD1550-1700). The tag is oval in plan with a rectangular attachment loop at one end, two smaller rounded attachment loops on either side of the rectangular loop, and a further rounded attachment loop at the opposite end. Post medieval copper alloy dress hook, 1500-1700. The object is oval in form and rectangular in cross section. It has an oval plate decorated with a double raised border and central foliate and scroll motif. Each side has a double scroll like projection and one end has a projecting fixing loop flanked by a small scroll. The other end has two fixing loops flanking a rectangular folded catch. The object is one of a pair forming a 'hook and eye' fastener and matches Read Class A, type 8, fig. 663-5 Length: 36 mm, width: 21 mm, weight: 6.09 g

Copper alloy clasp. A drawn wire clasp of triangular form with a pair of basal loops flanking a separate short sharp backward pointing hook, cf. Read Early post-Medieval Class A Type 1 sharp wire clasp. The separate wire hook is anchored by its bent end being looped around the top of the triangular frame whose converging sides provide the side loops. The lower part of the triangle is tightly wrapped with drawn wire of thickness c.0.3mm. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1550-1650. Length: 29.4mm, Width: 19.5mm, Thickness (overall but clear of hook): 2.4mm, Weight: 2.14gms

Copper alloy silvered Clasp. Cast blunt-eyed hook from a hook and eye clasp, Read (2008) Class A Type 2. An oval plate with three attachment loops (one lost) and a collared curved blunt hook at one end. The two remaining loops bear small knops. Incised decoration of the plate comprises a trilobate figure with circular or curvilinear additions against a diagonally hatched ground. White metal plating remains on both sides of the object. The piece comprises a flat-sectioned plate, of truncated-oval form, with the remnant of a rectangular frame extending from the flat base (broken off - only a fragmentary lug remains). Copper alloy Dress Fastener, as kindly identified by Rob Webley, citing SOM-BFAD38, identified as Early Post-Medieval Read Class A Type 7. Cast concavo-convex object, fluted on its convex side so as to resemble an elongated cockle shell. At its wider end there may be the stubs of a round loop. At its narrower end there is a round loop and two spurs, both now pointed, with a groove between them. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600. One half of a cast, copper-alloy toggle clasp. The main body of the clasp is heart-shaped and openwork, forming a voided heart in its centre. Halfway down the outer edges of the heart are opposing projections or knops. At the pointed base of the heart, the clasp widens to form a rectangular attachment slot with bifurcated ends. The opposite end of the clasp has a T-shaped toggle bar, curved around to form a hook that would engage with the other half of the clasp.

A cast, copper alloy hook piece from a Post Medieval hook and eye dress fastener, dating from AD 1500-1650. The body is sub-lozenge shaped. At one end is a knop which is pierced for attaching to the clothing, but broken across the sewing hole. There are two further projecting pierced knops for attachment, one in the centre of each side (one now missing). A cast copper alloy early Post-Medieval blunt dress hook. The object is a one piece eye section of Read Class F, Type 1. The object has a heart-shaped openwork frame with a crescentric shoulder at either side. At one end of the object is a T-shaped hook which is slightly curved. At the opposite end of the object is a sub-rectangular loop. The object has a dark brown patina and the outer face has been coated with a white metal. Similar examples can be found in Read, (2008), p187. Read suggests that these items may have been used with c.16th - c.17th century sword-belts, (ibid).

A copper alloy dress fastener, perhaps part of a cloak fastening, probably dating from the early post medieval period, AD1500-1650. It consists of a loop of copper alloy wire of circular section, one end of which extends to become the shaft and curved hook of the fastener. At the other end of the loop, the wire is extended into a shorter section: this is bound to the shaft with five turns of thinner gauge wire in order to prevent the loop from springing open. A copper alloy hooked tag of Brian Read's Early post-medieval Class A, Type 8. The body is flat, oval and has a recatngular loop at one end with a small circular loop immediately to both sides. Halfway around the periemter on both sides is a small rounded side-knop. The terminal is formed by a small circular loop. The body is decorated with an oval panel bearing possible foliate and floriate motifs within a beaded border. The beaded border contains a reddish coloured paste or enamel within in. Compare with Read no. 663.
